looking forward to our tenth stay at Tamarack.

5 of 5
We stayed at Tamarack for our ninth spring week this year. The lodge is very disability friendly and plenty of spaces for up to 12 persons, although some would be on fold-out beds (8 for 'normal' beds, 6 is probably the 'downstairs' limit for people with mobility issues, with 2+ carers sleeping upstairs). As well as being spacious, it is well equipped and set out, with a separate bathroom for the upstairs bedroom, wet room for the twin bedroom downstairs and an en-suite for the main downstairs bedroom. There is a log burner stove. we turn the underfloor oil-fired heating right down or off and rely mainly on the log fire in the evenings. Very comfy. The location is very secluded but easily accessed. The Holman and York inns are a couple of miles away, as is the community shop in Churchinford. The area is very pretty, with plenty of walking paths and accessible open spaces. The area is quite hilly, but there are plenty of 'flat' walks possible nearby, including Otterford lakes, Chard wildlife reserve, etc.. Or, drive to one of the coasts 20 or so miles away, or one of many National trust or private tourist properties. The lodge fits in very well with the surroundings, convenient, tidy and clean, without going overboard. Be adventurous or just laze around, this is a very special place. The owner is friendly. The lodge was designed by the owners brother, a qualified architect with wheelchair needs, so anybody in a wheelchair will find the raised fridge and freezer, legroom under the sinks and work surfaces, wetroom, etc. very accessible. Andy.

Great relaxing holiday

5 of 5
We spent two weeks in roe deer cabin, and could have stayed much longer. Helen and Richard were very welcoming hosts, and a source of information for interesting walks and days out. The cabin was very comfortable and clean, and the site was well maintained. One suggestion I have would be to replace the dishwasher with a washing machine and tumble dryer, as walking in the local woods and lanes is quite boggy even in a good summer as we are having now. Recommend days out to lyme regis and west bay (where broadchurch was filmed). Very cheap long stay parking in both resorts only ?1.70 for a full day. Also Perry's cider mill is good and set in a lovely village. The Poppe inn is about 40 mins walk away, and is open all day, and is dog friendly. Old Rosie cider recommended . Not cheap but very effective.
