Staying here you will be in the very warm and accommodating hands of hosts Jenny and her husband Steve. I wanted to visit somewhere close to the Peak Dales and found this clean, warm and welcoming place very near to the town centre, so its a good location. This site needs to definitely niggle out a few issues, for one thing, after i booked i was give no information about the address! Due to the site's booking process, i paid above what my budget allowed for the room and what was advertised. Jenny was alarmed to hear this, but her and Steve made us very welcome, putting us up in bigger and more comfortable rooms as they are genuine people, and surprised about my experience.
The decor is fresh B&B with a home warmth, with a touch of old lodge feel with the paintings, that are surprisingly signed by the artist more often than not. The rooms are spacious enough, and lovely white cotton sheets. Facilities include a shower room, conveniently on the 1st floor (where most guests will stay) as is the kitchen, small but functional without seeming cramped. An iron and ironing board as well as a pretty good hairdryer (high powered) were all there for our use. You're given a key, and there is a side exit for guests, making your timetable or schedule your very own. For discovering Harrogate, Ripon and the Dales, it has lots to offer and being on the cusp of the centre, makes this place very easy to travel to. Its quiet and serene at night, there are leaflets about services (i.e taxi's and takeaways) and things to do just like any hotel would offer, except with a bonus. Jenny seems to know everything that's going on, while Steve was very kind and run around finding riding centre's for me (horse-riding). Which even on a bank holiday weekend panned out. So thanks Steve, ever so much for taking the trouble.
You don't feel as though you're staying in someone's home and therefore private space, Jenny and Steve have struck the middle with great success, by neither being ever-present or not at all, they have achieved what i would class as a four star rated service because you're made very welcome and the air of a very good B&B as opposed to staying in a family's private home. The kitchen remains replenished, and the bathrooms are very clean. Towels are provided and my only gripe was that i couldn't get the heating on, although being the hottest it had been in a while, it was very mild at night. I loved staying here. Thanks Jenny, you were a gem.
