We have just had two weeks at Casa Los Linares and it is the perfect place to completely switch off and relax. The villa itself is spacious, well maintained and with all the facilities you could need. The huge games room is ideal to keep the kids (and adults) entertained out of the sun. The outdoor areas are brilliant, from the incredible 15 metre pool to the decking area with 2 double beds and the shaded area with more beds and a huge table for outdoor meals. Even in 40 degree heat there was always somewhere to cool down and relax.
The bedrooms are all a really good size with pretty good aircon (apart from the annex bedroom which does get a bit warm at night, although a bit of careful planning opening the windows up in the evening helps a bit). The kitchen is well stocked and clean, with everything needed to cater for large parties (we had 9 of us there for most of the time). Plenty of fridge/freezer space in the kitchen, games room and outside to keep the beer cold (and enough space for plenty of food to !!).
The local town (Rute) is a fairly easy 15 minute drive and the supermarket is large enough for everything you need with good underground car parking. Rute isn't a tourist town so don't expect gift shops, etc, not that we were looking for that. We had a couple of trips to the lake which is only another 10 or 15 minutes on from Rute - clean and warm to swim in and reasonably priced kayak and pedalo hire (€18 for an hour for the pedalos). We also had a couple of really nice meals out at Casa Juani (next to the lake) and Plaza de Las Comedias (at the top of Iznajar) - decent food and not expensive. We didn't do any other sightseeing as we were more than happy to stay around the villa, but the roads up from Malaga and around Rute/Iznajar are good and always seemed pretty quiet.
Claire, who looks after the villa, was an absolute star. So friendly and always available to help out with anything we needed (thanks Claire x). The people who came to clean the pool , change the beds, etc. were also really friendly and polite.
If you want a holiday where you can just get away from it all, completely chill out and avoid the touristy side of Spain, then Casa Los Linares and the surrounding area is perfect. We would definitely come back for future holidays.
