An excellent property with great location and facilities

              5 of 5
The property is an old restored finca, or farmhouse, attached to the owner's property (they are very friendly and helpful, but speak only limited English). It is set in a beautiful, remote location, with stunning views of mountains and across to the medieval village of Aledo. The elevation means you get cooling breezes, which are welcome in the summer heat. You get exclusive use of one of two pools. We chose the larger, lower pool which is great for swimming and has a big area for sunbathing. There is also a large children's play area with trampoline, hammocks and swings and a great outside sitting and barbecue area. Inside, there is everything you need, with two bathrooms, 5 good sized bedrooms and a galley kitchen. There is TV and wi fi access which kept the kids happy! Main facilities are in Totana, which takes about 10-15 minutes to drive to down winding scenic roads, but there is a bakery, shop, pharmacy and bars in Aledo, which is just 5 mins in the car. The beach (Bolnuevo) is an easy 30-40 minute drive and Lorca is an attractive historic city which is reached along traffic-free roads. Don't miss the amazing gorge which is only 2kms from the house and free to look around and the spectacularly-located La Santa monastery, just beyond Aledo, which has a great bar terrace overlooking the mountains. To summarise, this property is perfect for a relaxing break in rural Spain at a fantastic price.

              Amazing Place

              5 of 5
We booked the holiday for a relaxing week and it certainly allowed us to do that. It is just a shame we didn't book for longer. The garden and terrace's are amazing. We especially enjoyed spending our evenings on the Moroccan inspired terrace drinking wine and eating good food. We took plenty of photographs for inspiration in our own home. The villa itself is positioned away from any built up area so on an evening all you can hear is the sound of the crickets and a distant barking dog. Our hosts Lisa and Herbie were also amazing. We brought our one year old Daughter with us and for her first holiday and Lisa and Herbie provided us with a cot and a small paddling pool which she jumped in at every opportunity! Also the home made bread was warmly welcomed upon our arrival, thanks Lisa! Internally the villa offered us all that we needed, a nice clean and airy space with a kitchen with everything required for travelling with a young child. The grounds are well maintained with a number of fruit trees and cacti. We had the the pleasure of meeting Pedro the gardener who taught our daughter her first Spanish word. Even now almost two months after we left Spain she wont stop saying 'Hola' to everyone she meets. We ventured into Lorca, Aguilas and a couple of nearby beaches but we preferred to just relax by the pool. If you have small children Aguilas is great as it has a fun fair and a large playground close to the sea front. It also has a number of restaurants dotted along the promenade. I can't recommend this place enough, we had an amazing time and would love to return.
