Julie’s house, Les Peupliers, is just perfect for a week of complete relaxation and comfort. The house itself has absolutely everything you need and is clearly incredibly well looked after - We had everything we needed for the perfect stay and the welcome pack meant that the unwinding started straight away on our first night. The heated pool was divine and so incredibly private and peaceful with loads of recliners, a full set of tables and chairs and a sweet little drinks area if you need a moment of shade. We loved the little terrace in the private garden at the front of the house too where we took most of our meals - it was so beautiful and relaxing there that we could barely tear ourselves away from the villa but we were glad we did and we had some fantastic days on the nearby beaches - which have the softest finest sand by the way - and a fabulous day cycling on the Il de Re which was one of the week’s highlights. There are so many other places we could have visited but we loved being at the villa so much we had to leave some for a return visit. September was a fantastic time to visit weather wise too - still beautifully warm and blue skies all the way. All in all a perfect little slice of French heaven. Thanks Julie and the Les Peupliers team for the perfect holiday xxx

  • A wonderful, relaxing retreat in a great location.

The Gite is a modest but very well equipped property on the outskirts of the beautiful town of Limoux. Perfect for any couple looking for a quiet, relaxing stay. It is well located, being walking distance (20 minutes or so) from the town centre and it is worth the walk since Limoux is a bustling small town with lots going on at different times of the year. The location is also perfect for exploring the Aude valley and surrounding area and I would recommend the use of a small hire car to do so - there are very many beautiful locations to visit, some being on mountain top locations with small, narrow roads giving access. By car, Carcassonne and Castelnaudary to the North are easily accessible, (although the 1 Euro train to Carcassonne is easier than parking!) as is the coast to the East. Spain is also quite accessible to the South without too much trouble- overall a brilliant central location. Hosts Paul and Patricia are lovely individuals and were particularly helpful and they have a great knowledge of the tourist attractions and local amenities of the area and they could not be any more accommodating, managing to be constantly and easily available to their guests while not intruding into their holiday plans. They supplied a plethora of paperwork information about local attractions and a conversation with them reveals a great deal more useful information! They are fonts of local knowledge! Overall this is a brilliant location, with regard to both geographical location and accommodation. Accommodation is not flash or austentatious and all the better for it in my opinion but is simple, practical, very well equipped and perfect for a quiet break for any couple. We will no doubt visit again in the future.
