Lovely flat in lovely house in lovely village

                  5 of 5
My family and I really enjoyed the flat. We were actually sorry to leave! The flat is in a house in the middle of one of the prettiest suburbs of Merano. You can walk to the centre in half an hour on a path running among apple orchards and vineyards, or take the regular and frequent buses. There i everything you need in the suburb, from a couple of grocery shops to nice restaurants to ATMs. The flat is furnished in a fresh and practical way, with really nice touches like painted wooden furniture. It feels cosy and clean. The appliances are new and from really good brands. It is very well stocked in terms of dishes pans etc. You feel like you are staying in your own house rather than a holiday flat. The bed deserves a special mention, I struggle to sleep and slept like a baby there. It was incredibly comfortable! The owners also have a hotel 10 minutes down the road, where you can use the pool and spa for free. Although we never used them because we only stayed for days and our schedule was packed, they looked great. The view of the Merano valley from the pool was breathtaking. Staff at the hotel and the flat owners were extremely kind and pleasant to deal with. We felt lucky to have come across this flat. We hope to stay again int he future.

                  Oberversanthof

A stunning, well maintained, clean apartment on a working farm situated on a steep mountainside in one of the more remote valleys of the Alps. The owners live opposite and run the farm, allowing visitors to take part in many of the farming activities should they wish, and provide fresh milk, eggs and homebaked bread if one would like it. Since the nearest shops are quite far away that's a great bonus. The most popular pastime for visitors (in summer) is hiking in the surrounding mountains and valleys and there are very many walks to choose from, ranging from easy family walks (we had an 8yr old and 76 yr old granny with us) to very challenging. The views are breathtakinig. Weather is almost guaranteed to be good as they experience an amazing 300 days of sunshine a year on average. You definitely need a car, even to get to many of the walks and one should visit Bolzano which is a delightful city. We also loved walking around the Vernagt dam, walking to Schloss Juval, the castle belonging to mountaineering legend, Reinhold Messner and walkinig along the Pfossental. At the very end of the valley a cable car takes you to the only all-year skiing area int he South Tyrol and the glacier where Oetzi, the pre-historic man was found. Lastly, the owners are not fluent in English, but their hospitality and helpfulness is outstanding.
