Have just returned from a week's stay in this lovely apartment. It is situated in an ideal location, quiet but within easy reach of local amenities. Although not all of the restaurants etc were open due to the time of year we were more than satisfied with those that were ie. Il Cappriccio (right next door) and Portico ( 2 minute walk), both served great food with friendly service.
The apartment itself was spacious, clean and well appointed. We would not hesitate to recommend.
Thank you Santo for your help and please pass on our gratitude to Simona for her help and patience.
Very happy to have found this holiday property! Its close proximity to the sea is wonderful and we swam early each morning, beckoned by the beautiful sunrises. I bought 'swim shoes' whilst there as the beach was pebbly. We were also lulled to sleep each night by the sound of the waves (only occasionally interrupted by the sound of a train on the nearby railway line behind the property). We stayed during a very warm week in mid September (max daytime temperatures 33 degrees) but did not need to use the air-conditioning unit, as stayed comfortable with the sea breeze coming through our holiday home. The property is in a virtually traffic-free area (gated access for car owners) and although we loved Giardini Naxos, it was good to be able to escape the traffic-heavy road (at certain times of day) that wends its way along the sea front. We walked out most evenings to eat and, as vegetarians, were pleased to find good pizzerias in GN, most within reasonable walking distance. The resort of GN stretches 2 miles around the bay, so we did a lot of walking to fully explore the town. We ate at home a couple of evenings and feel that the kitchen could have benefited from having a chopping board and vegetable chopping knife, but the experience of eating out on the warm terrace in the evening with good local wine, was unforgettable, despite the lack of certain bits of kitchen kit. We booked taxis to take us to and from Catania Airport (we opted not to hire a car) but then realized that the bus to Taormina from the airport would have taken us very close to the holiday property, so would do that if we return. We used public buses a lot during our week's stay and travelled to Taormina several times - a 20 minute bus trip. We were welcomed by Concetta and her daughter (who spoke a little more English than her mother) and were able to get into the holiday home earlier than advertised on the website, due to our flight's arrival time. We had a slight problem on our first evening as could not get back into the gated area, after forgetting how we'd been instructed by Concetta to open the car accessible security gate; we tried the small gate to the side (for pedestrians) but the key/lock did not work. Concetta came out the following morning and reminded us! (My husband had to go down on to the beach and scramble up a shrubby slope to get us in on our first evening).
Communications with the property owners via email (and text on the day of our arrival) were very good
