  • A cosy, spacious and lovely house
    4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is spacious and cosy and well equipped. Michael was always very helpful and answered all our questions very quickly and gave nice recommendations. The only thing we would have liked to be better is the description of how to find the house. We drove in the dark and it was difficult to follow the description and unfortunately we didn't have the most accurate navigation system either. However, we really enjoyed our stay! Thank you.

  • Beautiful surroundings, super clean holiday let and wonderful hosts! Will go back again and again!

From the moment I booked this holiday let, I knew I was in safe hands! Tom and Lisa are fantastic hosts who ensured I was given the keys personally and shown around, even though my ferry was more than three hours late and my arrival/get in time was severely delayed. The surroundings are superb and tranquil. Fields of gold and fantastic views of the surrounding hills. The furnishings and fittings are to an extremely high standard. I have even asked Lisa for tips on redecorating my own short term holiday let in Hitchin in Hertfordshire as she clearly has a creative flair for interiors. The let was clean throughout. Stradbally/Port Laois is a fantastic vantage point from which to explore Ireland. We visited the Athy Museum (a must for the lovely team there with their wealth of local information and advice) and the Loch Gur Visitor Centre too. Philip at Loch Gur gave us the outline of where to visit and what to do, I highly recommend all visitors ask for him personally when they get to the Visitor Centre. We had a disabled wheelchair user in our group and the owners were extremely accommodating and helpful. There is a large shopping centre 8km away in the main town of Port Laois with a Tesco Extra, Aldi, Lidle, Dunnes and more, where you can get absolutely anything your heart desires. The house is only an hour's drive from Dublin Airport and the Dublin Port too. It has fantastic motorway access to Cork, Tipperary, Limerick, absolutely all of the Southern and Northern Irish landmarks. Lisa advised us to visit the Stradbally Steam Festival and of particular gems we just had to go and visit which ensured we had plenty to see and do while in Port Laois. If you simply want peace and quiet, this is the best spot for you to do exactly that. There is no noise from traffic and if you fancy getting away from the hustle and bustle but still want to be close to motorways to travel, then this is the place for you and your family/group to stay!
