Accommodation in Central Valence

Valence is situated between Lyon and Avignon and next to the River Rhone. It is a convenient location for visiting Avignon and Nimes to the south, Lyon to the north. It is near the natural beauty of the Alps and the Ardeche Gorges as well as medieval towns such as Grignan. The town itself has a very pretty pedestrianised historical old part in which this gites / apartment is centrally located. The apartment is literally within 50 metres of 7 restaurants and is near the Place des Clercs from where the beautiful Cathédrale Saint-Apollinaire can be seen. The gite is on the ground floor, is spotlessly clean and comprises a cooking / dining area which extends to a lounge. The bedroom has an en suite shower and wash basin and the toilet is in a separate room between the lounge and the bedroom. Every conceivable item for cooking has been provided including pressure cookers, pots, pans, plates and cutlery as well as a microwave and traditional hot plate oven. A dishwasher is also provided. For washing clothes, a laundry is about 200m away and a dry cleaning and pressing shop is located about 100m away on the Places des Clercs. There is a mini-market very close by as well as a larger supermarket near the Mairie, about 300m from the apartment. Parking a car is a slight inconvenience as the Old Town is a pedestrianised area but only for loading and unloading; there is free parking about 300m away. In summary, the apartment s ideal for short-term visitors to the town and to professionals working in the area. The landlord is very pleasant and erudite, with an encyclopedic knowledge of the Drome region. It is highly recommended to tap into his wisdom and he is very easy to talk to as a 6 hour conversation I once had with him is testament.
