Beautiful accomodation

4 of 5
We stayed at the property for just over a week in August 2017. We were two families with four children between us. On arrival, the property certainly had the wow factor. It has been beautifully restored and its open plan living is ideal for large groups. The owners were welcoming although you do have to pay extra for linen. As our children were all between 2 and 6, a child-friendly booking was quite important to us. Unfortunately the way that the rooms are set up (x4 single beds in the cabins, x1 mezzanine and x1 double in the adjacent 'wing'), it meant that we couldn't hear the kids at night if they woke so we ended up sleeping with all families in one room. The mezzanine has quite steep stairs so impractical for small children and the adjacent double is quite soundproofed due to the stone walls! The cabin rooms are absolutely lovely but don't have windows so didn't feel practical to sleep in. While we had a fantastic holiday, we do think that this property is probably best suited to families with older children. Our kids had a fantastic time but the fact that we were worried about any damage and if they woke at night and whether we would hear them. This said, the owners have four children of their own so must be well used to youngsters! It really is a lovely and well-equipped place to stay. We would definitely recommend it.

Spacious house with large pool in a great location

5 of 5
Wow, we had a fantastic family holiday in sunny Saint-Brice. The house itself is a great size and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. We spent most of our time at the house on the terrace area and around the generous sized pool. As an extended family group we had 3 cars for which there was plenty of space in the gated driveway. The house is the perfect base for touring the Charente area, some of our favourite activities were; fishing in the Charante river itself, we walked down, through the village and sat on a jetty with the chateaux featured in the photos as a backdrop. We all loved the Courvoisier experience and of course the town of Cognac itself. We also drove out to the lovely town of St Palais-sur-Mer for a seafood lunch and then spent the rest of the day on the beach. The Auchan hypermarket in Cognac is about a 6 min drive away, we cooked and BBQed at the house most evenings and stocked up on wine as we left. We have booked this villa again for July/Aug, can’t wait!
