A Family celebration

5 of 5
We were celebrating our Golden Wedding anniversary by enjoying a holiday with our children & their families. The chateau was ideal for our purposes-plenty of space for the grandchildren to run around & play & lots of room inside the house. They enjoyed the pool very much but we were glad we had taken wet suits for them as it was a bit on the chilly side! We enjoyed trips to Bayeux,Clecy & Thury-Harcourt was handy for shopping but staying here you have to be prepared to drive as Donnay itself is very rural. If you are a Francophile & want to relax & enjoy a slow pace of life it's lovely.

We had a wonderful stay in these properties, and thoroughly recommend it. The houses: We were a group of 10 friends, and we all had plenty of space. The manoir has 2 amazing huge bedrooms, the master one has a bath for 4 people! Both these bedrooms have shower and toilets ensuite. The kitchen is large, and incredibly well stocked even for cooks like ourselves. Plenty of pots and pans, even some specialist ones like a Turbot kettle and a crep pan, as well as cafeteriers, a large fridge freezer and a dishawasher. The downstairs is very large, with beautiful fires for the winter, but it was nice and cool in the summer. There is also a huge dining table that easily seats 10-12, great for a big buffet. The pressoir is a smaller building, but has 4 good sized bedrooms - 3 doubles and one with two single beds. There is one toilet and one bath, although one of the bathrooms does have an ensuite bath, but no toilet. Downstairs is another large seating area with a big dining area looking on to an amazing pool. Both houses are full of lovely furniture, with lots of personal effects like photo albums to look at, making it feel just like home. The pool is 23 degrees, and was a great size for all of us. There are plenty of sun loungers and even a BBQ. The grounds are amazing, all managed by the lovely Phillipe the smiling Frenchman. Well kept gardens, lots of space with outdoor seating for dinners outside, and a lovely pond at the bottom of the garden with resident geese. The area itself is very remote, and surrounded by stunning French countryside. There are many beautiful towns to visit all within 30 minutes drive, including Hornfleur and the Normandy beaches. The nearest town is 10 minutes away with a supermarket and a fantastic bakers. We all had a fantastic time, and would love to go back to Druval again soon. The property is everything we hoped for, and the owner Carole was so helpful, especially when it came to answering all my questions in English, as my French is very limited! Please book this holiday, you wont regret it :-)
