                                        A late Lovely Summer Break!

Everything we wanted from the house and it was very quite yet everything we needed was only 10 minutes away. The Pool and area was excellent but as we are getting on in age we did not use the pool that often but when we did if was very nice and water warm. The BBQ, Gazebo and garden furniture was very good and comfortable. We enjoy many good evenings sitting, eating and drinking the local wines by the pool. We were very fortunate with the weather and there were glorious sunsets. As we enjoy wine the property was ideal for both visiting both Bordeaux and Bergerac areas. As always Saint Emilion was a joy and we would recommend a visit to the fabulous New Wine Museum on the banks of the Garonne. We booked online and saved 5 euros each. Bordeaux itself it a wonderful City and we spent two days there. We parked on the outskirts and we used the local trams and buses. One of the days we had a ticket for 10 trips for I think 10 euros and visited many places of interest. The other day spent time on a river trip on the Garonne and stopped in the evening for a very good Chinese meal at Au Bonheur du Palais. Peter had recommended it and it made a nice change. Peter was on hand most helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Finally having UK TV was a god send as and the Giant Screen was loved by the men for looking at their football sport and for me to keep up with Corrie.

Relaxing, Chilled Holiday With Plenty Of Amenities

                                        5 of 5
We were a party of 7 (4 adults & 3 children aged 7-11) and found the chalets clean, comfortable and spacious. Our chalet was within easy walking distance of both the clubhouse, lake and outdoor swimming pool. We had a fabulous time at Etang Vallier - the moment we arrived onsite, we were greeted by Nina who was extremely helpful and she went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. The Clubhouse was the perfect place for food and drink and the kids were kept entertained with the indoor games room, the bouncy castle, crazy golf and swings. The lake was used by all of us and even though the two youngest children weren't great swimmers, we were comfortable with them swimming in the lake as it is not too deep. The outdoor pool was clean and there was never any issue with getting a sun lounger. There was plenty of entertainment at night with live music several times a week. Our chalet had a balcony overlooking to road to the Clubhouse and we had our own private BBQ which was used at several stages during our holiday...we didn't even need to buy any charcoal. The kitchen was fully equipped and the dishwasher was a useful addition. The pièce de résistance was having fresh croissants, pain au chocolat and baguettes delivered fresh each morning to our chalet - yummy! The resort is only minutes from the sleepy village of Brossac but there is a good sized supermarkets not too far away in Chalais and Barbezieux. Chalais also had a great market once a week. We also visited the water park at Jonzac, the lake at Beauvallon and a day trip to Bordeaux. All suggestions courtesy of Nina! Everyone we met was friendly and plenty of people had been returning to the resort for years...and we could understand why. If you're looking for a family friend, relaxing holiday, then you can't go wrong with Etang Vallier. We can't wait to return again when the indoor swimming pool and spa will be open. Etang Vallier, we will be back!

What a fantastic house for a family holiday. The bedrooms gave us just the flexibility that we needed with such a wide range of ages. Frans and Suse were available whenever we needed them, but also allowing us privacy to get on with our holiday. To see the photos of what this building was when Frans took it over compared to what it is now, is just amazing. The view from the terrace is great, and to hear a Nightingale singing in the valley below was the icing on the cake. Loads to do in the area. We did the canoeing, which was great fun and drove up to Angouleme for the shopping. I cannot praise the Le Pitaud restaurant enough. Just 10 mins drive away, we went there twice, but I wish we had found it earlier so we could have gone again. They speak English and boy do they know how to make you feel welcome. I can't wait to go back to Le Maine Menot in the not too distant future.
