Iconic and Idyllic

5 of 5
We loved the ambiance of this home and its location to the town centre. You can sit on the terrace for hours and it feels like you are watching from inside a painting. The BBQ and fridge make this an ideal spot for family and friends to gather and enjoy the village lifestyle. The rest of the house is extremely comfortable and every room has direct access to its own bathroom. This is superb accommodation that provides a perfect location to explore the many delights of the region. I recommend this house and village to anyone wanting to experience the French lfestyle. Vive la France

We had an enjoyable stay although the weather was disappointingly cool for June

4 of 5
The property was clean and well maintained and we were well looked after by the owners who were helpful but not intrusive. A lovely location in a forested area with pleasant short and long walks on quiet roads and paths with many good views. We enjoyed the ripe cherries on the nearby trees. The boules and boules pitch were well used. Because of unseasonal cool/ cloudy weather and a number of rain showers we were not able to make full use of the lovely outdoor facilities and swimming pool. To allow for future cool weather, it would be helpful to have a washing line positioned in an area where it is more likely to catch the sun. The new washing stand was much appreciated. We found the lighting in the lounge a bit of a challenge until we realised the complexity of French electrical wiring. We would also suggest that you inform prospective guests about the absence of international TV. The walk to the village, though very pleasant, was somewhat further than expected, and therefore not too practical for grocery shopping on foot. We were familiar with the village and area from previous stays in the region - our first stay was some 20 years ago - and we continue to find La Garde Freinet to be a very special, relatively unspoilt village. Easy access to the coast is also a great advantage. We appreciated the comments in the guide provided as they led us to two lovely beaches which we had not visited previously. Cabanon Chadwick is a well located and well appointed. It would be enhanced if a few trees could be cleared to open up the beautiful views of the mountains. Although we shopped on the way to the house, we appreciated the "provisions" available on arrival - wine, tea, milk, soap, toilet paper, etc. We hope to visit again.
