                                                      Perfect house, beautifully located

                                                      5 of 5
Had a wonderful holiday in this beautiful house, situated in a charming (and very quiet) village 10-15 mins from all the major sites in the wine region that we wanted to visit. The owner, Sylvie (and Marc) were very welcoming and helpful at all times, giving us recommendations for restaurants and wine tastings etc, and helped us enormously in getting our bike fixed in the local town. The house is stunning and was probably the best equipped rental we have ever stayed in. The house is really well laid out for sharing couples or families (with the top two rooms having some privacy from the bedroom on the first floor - each floor with its own bathroom). The living room and kitchen area is very large, with a really comfortable sitting area, as well as full size dining table. The kitchen was immaculately clean, well equipped and really modern and new. We made use of the all terrain bikes available also. The main attraction however was the gorgeous deck with seating outside, overlooking the vineyard and fields. It was a haven in the heat (we enjoyed very hot weather) using the umbrella when it got too hot. Even on overcast days the evenings in Marey les Fussey were delightful being able to sit outside for dinner with fabulous views. We also tried our hand at pétanque. The wine region was amazing to visit, surprisingly small enough to navigate very easily (by car and bike). The walks and cycles through the vineyards will remain in our memories for a long time. Needless to say, we enjoyed the wine tasting enormously (and did a great informal tasting in the village that Sylvie helped us arrange). If you want a rural location, with peace and tranquillity but close enough to explore all the main sites this house is perfect.

                                                      A wonderful 'second home'

                                                      5 of 5
The upside of having one’s own secondary residence is, of course, having a perfectly-decorated and well-equipped home in one’s favourite holiday region. The downsides are manifold: sourcing all the furniture and equipment, maintenance, getting a local guardian of the place, and all those other issues one discovers after purchase. Here’s the perfect solution: Peter and Lucy’s home. It’s beautifully decorated with en-suite bedrooms to suit everyone’s mood (insider’s tip: the summer one – red and green – has the morning sun peeping in). Just about everything you could possibly need is there. Squishy sofas, a collection of CD’s to suit all tastes, a perfect kitchen (Sabatier knives!). In short, you have your home away from home without any of the hassle. And Lucy and Peter take a genuine interest in your holiday experience. There’s a book full of useful hints. Not folders, but personal experiences and recommendations. And they truly bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable. This was our first (but certainly not our last) trip to 10PM, and we had a wonderful time. Some of the highlights included • Going to the bakery in the morning. And here’s a scoop, (nearly) live from 10PM: the bakery has changed owners. Overnight. The whole village was agog. But fortunately they only closed for two days to change ownership, and the new baker is great. Excellent baguettes and croissants, and the tasting they organized on Day Two revealed a good line in whole grain bread and a very fetching cranberry/nuts bread as well. • Visiting local restaurants, but above all, • Cooking one’s own meals in the fantastic kitchen, with fresh produce from the markets (Chagny on Sunday!) and the supermarkets (Au Grand Frais in Beaune!) and eating them around the lovely kitchen central island. • And, last but not least, going on a wine-buying expedition with neighbour and now friend Pascal Wagner. Buying very expensive wines in Burgundy is quite easy, but finding great wines at affordable prices takes a lot of insider knowledge. Pascal has it all, and he is a fountain of information on just about everything else as well.

“The little things that make all the difference”

                                                      5 of 5
As soon as we arrived, we just knew that it would be perfect. The farmhouse is very spacious, with all homely features (even uk tv), with great cooking facilities, huge fireplace with real wooden fire for the cold nights, exposed oak beams, exposed stone walls with nice soft rugs for your feet in the cold mornings. There's a great dinner table for entertaining, plus if your lucky "keys to whisky cabinet". The huge living room and kitchen lead onto a wonderful wet room, upstairs is very spacious with 2 big bedrooms, 1 with en-suite, but also a magical music lounge, it looks like it could be another 2 bedrooms ready soon. Outside has a beautifully designed dining area, with BBQ, and shade for the hot summer days, the plants & flowers add to the charm, even a cabbage patch down the bottom of the garden, plus the FAIRIES!!! Listen out for the Donkey. Plenty of parking space next to farmhouse as well. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming, french speaking, very knowledgeable, especially on the wines, and wine region. Infact, they helped us plan our bike ride to the cote-dor, and cote de beaune region, helping us to book bikes and trailer for the kids. That area isnt to be missed for any wine lover, amazing close to Beaune, Beaune to Santenay cycle route is 24km of winding flat vineyards roads also accessible from Beaune, hardly any climbing, perfect for the young ones, and a chance to see how the vines are grown and sample of course. Djion itself is 30 minutes and is a good day out, with lovely cool eateries, feels very safe and friendly, also has some stylish shops, and don't forget to follow the OWL trail. Creancey were the farmhouse is, is quite but typically french, with its own chateau, no real amenities here, but a carrefour is just down the road for all the basics, but Chateauneuf on the hill is within touching distance for a nice meal and drink on a night. Hope to come back again and again.
