We are two couples who have taken holidays together regularly for many years and we are all agreed that Casa Feliz is the best house we have ever stayed in and we seriously doubt it will ever be knocked off that top spot. The arrangements with John and Marie were made very easily and their agent, Pili, was brilliant. We had no trouble finding her and the carat the airport and she delivered us safely to the house, which on our arrival was gently lit and dotted with flowers to greet, in addition and there was a fire burning in the grate in the main sitting room making it feel like home. There was a welcome platter of food and drink and supplies for breakfast. Pili left us with clear contact details and is a helpful list of good restaurants. The next day we explored the grounds and simply couldn't believe our luck. The pool was wonderful. We spent our days relaxing at the house when the sun shone and exploring the unspoilt island as the clouds arrived. We loved Marie's ceramic work and wished we could have some at home to remind us of our stay. We enjoyed the abundance of bird life and had fun lizard spotting. We conducted controlled trials to hasten the ripening of the tasty avocados picked from the groaning bushes and reached the conclusion that it takes 6 days whatever the method. Even an exciting flight home courtesy of Storm Katie in the UK of could not take the shine off our wonderful stay in Casa Feliz. Thank you John and Marie much for sharing your beautiful home. I suspect it will not be long before we want to return

                                      Not for us

                                      4 of 5
We found Villa Landhaus Tijarafe to be a comfortable, well equipped place for our first visit to La Palma. The owner is in the process of installing a pool which was not ready for use. This would have been a bonus as the weather at the end of January was certainly hot enough for a swim. The gardens were delightful with variety of different places to sit either in full sun or dappled shade. All the television programs were in German with just a couple of English speaking news channels. The housekeeper told us that we could receive BBC 1 but this was not so. We phoned to ask if she could come and program at least one English speaking channel but she refused suggesting that we ask the gardener who lived in the villa grounds. The gardener did try but had no idea how to program the channels. We do think that if this villa is being offered to other nationalities, there should be appropriate channels. Nothing had prepared us for the horrendous drive from the road to the villa so although the villa was lovely it is unfortunately not for us.

Wonderful destination for a quiet, relaxing break

                                      5 of 5
Villa Miranda certainly lived up to all our expectations. It is a very spacious property set in a large plot with a variety of outside areas for barbecuing or relaxing. The pool area is similarly very spacious and well equipped. The views are stunning. There is a small but well stocked supermarket a short walk away so easy to purchase fresh bread each morning. There are books and DVDs galore so if you don't plan on being too active there is plenty to pass the time. La Palma is an interesting island; the roads are generally narrow, steep and windy so a good hill start technique is essential when driving the car you must hire to make the most of your stay. A drive to Roque Las Muchachos is a must, 7500 feet above sea level offering stunning views even on a cloudy day. There is also an excellent island wide system to guide hikers along the various tracks. There are several good restaurants a short drive away for those times you don't want to cook. All in all I would highly recommend the villa as a place to stay and La Palma as a destination for a quiet and relaxing break.
