This apartment was perfectly suited to our two week Christmas break in Rome. It was far enough away from the city centre not to encounter a single tourist in our neighbourhood, but near enough to efficient public transportation to get to all the sights quickly and without hassle. There are bus, tram, and metro stops all within easy walking distance.
We really enjoyed living like a local. The apartment building is quite a community and could potentially be noisy, but I think many people were away for the holidays. The windows are double glazed and there is heating and air conditioning. The bedroom and living room were comfortable and a good place to put up tired feet after a day of exploring. The kitchen was equipped well enough to prepare Christmas dinner and nightly meals, using produce from the friendly neighbourhood market and the Conad shop that is directly across the street from the building. We very much appreciated having our own dishwasher and washing machine; they made the trip much easier. Special mention goes to the lift/elevator, not often found in European apartment blocks. There are plenty of restaurants nearby where you can enjoy an entire three course meal for the price of coffee and cake in the city centre.
The Prenestino area is worth exploring. It is quite vibrant, with street art, excellent restaurants and bars, and a busy street market, just over the rail tracks from the metro station.
Communication with Gianni was very good. He let us stay an extra night and leave our luggage in the apartment a bit longer on our last day.
I would certainly stay here again and highly recommend it to travellers who wish to live like real Romans and not in a chain hotel or surrounded by throngs of tourists.
