We had an extremely relaxing two weeks at this farm house. The bedding was clean and fresh and there was plenty of space for our family of five.
The pool was fabulous and our 6 year old son particularly loved it - the pool is deep but once he got his confidence, he was trying to dive in the deep end! The walks locally were fab but you have to be a fan of steep hills! We also enjoyed the use of the pool table.
The farmhouse is rustic with typically Bearnaise features. The outdoor areas were great for relaxing with a glass of wine... or two of an evening.
Our son made friends with Mittens (later known as ChitChat) the cat who liked to come and say hello... especially at meal times!! The wildlife - deer and a range of birds, in particular birds of prey, were in abundance. The views of the Pyranees are quite something.
The farmhouse is away from it all but it is worth trying the local auberges. Excellent food at great prices. We also visited Chateau de Morlanne, Arthez, Orthez and Pau which were very nice.
The hosts were great, nothing was too much trouble - Phil had a bit of an accident and the rest of the family came together to make sure we were ok in his absence! We hope you have a speedy recovery. Thank you for making our stay comfortable and easy.
The property is very spacious and easily room for 8-10 people. The facilities were excellent with a kitchen and covered eating area for outdoor dining next to the large swimming pool. The main property is large and has a kitchen and separate washing room. Outside there is plenty of grassy areas for the children to run and play in a safe closed environment. The property is surrounded by rural land and is very peaceful.
The property was very clean with bed linen and towels provided.
There is help if you need it locally as Gilbert who lives down the road came to clean the pool and provide other services as you might need (he printed off some rugby tickets for me) and is very friendly.
The property is in a great location to explore the local area - from the beaches at Biarritz and St Jean de Luz, the historic towns of Pau and Bayonne and the wine areas of Madiran and Iroudeguy. We also went further afield to San Sebastien and Bordeaux - all within 2 hours drive. It was just over an hour from Biarritz airport so the travelling days weren't too much of a pain.
There are plenty of smaller towns closer by to explore as well.
The owner is also very helpful offering guidance an assistance as required and is very responsive. It is always better to be able to tap in to local knowledge to find hidden treasures such as which are the best local restaurants or the fact there is an olympic size swimming pool down the road.
Overall we had a lovely stay and would highly recommend it.
