I booked Quinta D’Oleiro for a family get together with our eldest daughter, her husband and baby, and our other daughter and son., so we used all four bedrooms in the house, but it would have been OK if there had been two other partners as the rooms all had double beds. The beds were all extremely comfortable.
The photos in the website do not do justice to the property. The pool is big, having a deep end of 2.8 m and beautifully cared for. The steps you see from the house to the pool are massive, like coming down from a Piano Nobile in an old Roman city.
When you rent this place, you get the house with its four bedrooms, a huge sitting room complete with decorative marble floors and a boudoir grand piano, bath/shower for each room, a kitchen with all the gadgets. Isabel is an interior designer and the house is flamboyantly wonderful. Down the steps and across the pool, there is the old house, which now is L shaped, and has a second kitchen with everything there again, there is a covered BBQ area with gas or charcoal choice, and a wood oven for pizzas etc, two sitting areas and two other dining areas, depending on time, temperature and your whim. There are more glasses and plates than you can imagine, two dishwashers, , a washing room, you name it.
The really fabulous part that is not mentioned is that you also have Isabel, who owns the house with Manuel. She lives at the bottom of the long orchard/vegetable garden and looks after everything. Normally this may put you off, and we might worry too about privacy. Don’t worry Isabel is the warmest and most brilliant host you could ever have. She rushes around morning and evening making sure the place is in great shape, moving furniture, inflatables, putting in the pool cleaning machine and covering up at night, she gave us huge welcome pack of fruit and other goodies on arrival, a huge basket of the most glorious oranges from their trees which juiced perfectly in the electric juicer (of course!) she encouraged us to help ourselves to beans lettuce courgettes and other veg (you rarely get decent veg and greens in the restaurants)
We eventually got to communicating via google translate on iPads but had managed pretty well with waving arms and using simple words! She made us cakes and loved seeing our baby granddaughter. Nothing was too much trouble, but she was never hovering around, and we never felt crowded.
Best house/pool we have ever rented.
Paulo accommodated an early check-in, welcomed us with beers, wine, soft drinks, water and fresh pastel de nata's and took the time to show us the villa in detail as well as driving us around the local amenities and restaurants, including a short-cut to the train station and his wife's lovely coffee shop which we used one morning which I would highly recommend. Location is great for access to Porto and not far from the airport either. All as described. Thanks again.
