We were made to feel very welcome by the owners who provided us with lots of information on walks in the area before we had even arrived. This proved to be invaluable. It is in a very quiet location with very few local services (nearest shop is 5 miles away) which suited us well but may not be ideal for everyone. The few restaurants recommended didn't disappoint and all catered well for vegetarians as well as the emphasis on local game. This part of the Ariege is ideal for walkers and anyone wanting complete peace and quiet amongst stunning scenery. The gite was newly and simply modernised and catered for all our needs. It was comfortable for 4 people but would have been a squeeze for 6 as only 1 sofa and small living area. I was surprised we had to pay extra for linen, however. We highly recommend the gite and the location.
Cottage is quiet, clean, well equipped and suitable for travelling with a young baby. The owner provides travel cot, baby bath and high chair. The patio outside has a bbq and is all one level so safe for a toddler. Nearby town of saint Girons has a great market on Saturday mornings. Highly recommend for food shopping. Nearby Castillon has small grocery store and also a bakery, butcher etc. There is an open air swimming pool also. The local restaurant auberge de la core was great but you will need to book a table even at lunch times. The nearby bethmale lake is great for a walk and a picnic. All in all a great holiday if you want to be somewhere quiet with not too many other tourists.
