Thank you Ambretta and Bruno for a lovely stay In Monterosso and for your hospitality.
The apartment was cosy but ideal for a short stay so close to all the amenities.
A special thank you to Ambretta for the beautiful home grown lemons which were delicious.
We had a really great time in Poggio del Salice Apartment. Marco was a great host and made sure we had all the information beforehand to find his secluded apartment easily. He met us in Montaretto close to his place to show us the way and took lots of time at the apartment to explain all the attractions of the area.
The apartment is very comfortable. The well equipped kitchen has everything you need. There are spectacular uninterrupted views over the sea and we spent most evenings enjoying the sunset and the far distant lights from Genoa and the coast of Liguria and then later in the evening watching the constellation of stars that we miss so much in the city. The main room, bedroom and bathroom are all very spacious and comfortable.
One of the really great aspects of the apartment is that it is directly on some of the the best walking trails of the Cinque Terre. From the house we walked to Framura and also to Bonassola. From these towns there is also the train that connects all the towns of the Cinque Terre as well as to La Spezia and Levanto which make it very easy to get around.
The small town of Montaretto has a small bar, “Lorella” (which also serves meals) and a small friendly alimentari on the road down to the apartment, with a faded Che Guevara flag flying out the front this small shop which we returned to many times which has surprisingly everything you need.
Salice comprises of only a few houses surrounded by nature and a few farms of olives and grapes. The peace and quiet was wonderful with only sound being the birds during the day, at night the crickets and the distant sea breaking on the rocks. We enjoyed our talks with Marco and leant a lot about the area. It was very special to be at Apartment Poggio del Salice and we would love to return to enjoy this special place. Thanks Marco.
