This houseboat is a quirky, unique experience. You have to be able to go down a ladder to get into the living quarters. The sleeping berths are across from one another. We slept parents in one, teenager in the other. Our second teenager slept on the narrow sofa in the living/kitchen area (it isn’t quite a futon, and not cushy.) The ability to sit up top, outside is excellent. There are two rows of houseboats, and this one is on the inside, nearest to the street, not the water. The location is ideal, close enough to tram/metro/uber to all the things you want to see and do, but not in the a loud, crowded tourist area.
We had such a lovely time at the Watercradle this weekend. The only problem was it wasn't long enough! Very cosy and beautifully decorated - perfect for a romantic weekend away. Once the heaters were plugged in, it warmed up very quickly. Good, clean facilities including an array of teas. We loved bobbing around on the water at night and the issue in the morning was that we couldn't get out of the bed; it was far too comfortable! A brilliant location only a short walk from central Amsterdam and Doet was a welcoming and friendly host. All in all a tremendous trip, I can't recommend highly enough and will certainly be back, hopefully some time soon!
