Venosc is a good base for those who don't want to be in a large ski resort. The village of Venosc is very pretty and quiet. the telecabine link to 2 Alpes is easy and effective, though it does close at 7pm. Some of us drove to the bottom of the telecabine and others walked down the path, which is much shorter but quite steep.
Chalet Asphodele is very well equipped; spacious kitchen dining room and living room and 5 ensuite bedrooms ( the sixth bunk bedroom has an ensuite shower and basin and a toilet just along the hallway). There are several rental units in the building (which used to be a small hotel) and there is shared use of a 'hammam' with a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and shower. Unlike chalets I have stayed in, this is a solid building and very quiet, yet it has the feel of a chalet, with your own front door leading to a balcony and steps down to the pedestrian road below.
The owners were very helpful and welcoming. As there was not a detailed rental contract , you might want to confirm with the owners the arrangements for linen and towels, payment of taxe de sejour etc before you book.
We had a very good time at Chalet Asphodele and very good skiing in 2 Alpes!
We used the chalet as a week-long base for exploring the local cycling challenges, including the famous climbs of Alpe D'huez, Croix de Fer and the Galibier. The location was perfect and the facilities excellent - and particularly suited as a cycling base, with safe and secure storage for the bikes. A short cycle ride, or 20 minutes walk, from the centre of Bourg d'Oisans meant that we could eat, drink and relax in one of the many cafe's and restaurants that the town has to offer.
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Les Petites Sources, and were well looked after by our polite and friendly hosts, who are on hand to assist if ever needed.
