  • Idyllic countryside setting, immaculate cottage and spotlessly clean, charming and gratuitous hosts

On arrival we were welcomed by our lovely host Suzanne and some very delicious scones with jam and cream witch went down lovely with a cup of tea after our long drive from the Forest of Dean. The open plan living was great as i was not stuck in the kitchen on my own when i cooked Sunday lunch. very comfortable beds, great amenities, comfortable furniture and a smart t.v made our stay a real treat, a lovely home from home. The owners were unobtrusive but always available if we had any questions. Loved watching the blue tits that fed just outside our kitchen window and the pheasants that wandered the garden. Absolutely loved the log burning fire, real cosy!! We had a lovely meal at the local pub The Sidemouth Arms, returning again for a nice glass of wine also very welcoming. Lots of good local attractions to visit and good supermarkets. We had a wonderful time and hope to return again next year. Thank you Suzanne for a wonderful stay.

What a cosy cottage! From the fire lit ready for our arrival, to the enormous super king sized bed and roll top bath (both in the main bedroom). A last minute booking the day before we arrived and still the cottage was spotless, warm and welcoming. Towels on the radiators and fresh eggs (laid by resident hens) in a basket on the work top. Uncomplicated, rustic but very comfortable for a family holiday or a weekend break. Tim was there to welcome us and quick to point out that if there was anything we needed, to knock on the main house door, (there wasn't). Beautiful walks right from the door out into the wonderful rolling countryside. Our Dog Alfie was particularly impressed with a 100 mile an hour run (him not us) over to Beaminster and back where we stopped for coffee and cake and he was given water and a chopped up sausage (just because) - thank you to the lovely people in the Steak House. Windy walks along Chesil beach gave eye level views of massive waves after storm Diana. All in all really relaxing weekend break which felt less like two nights and more like a week, we were so chilled. Thanks to Tim, Charlotte and the hens.
