  • Two lovely cottages
    4 of 5

We booked both cottages; with Damson, the smaller of the two being the quiet house and Orchard was where most of the activities and eating happened. Fortunately it was dry weather most of the time so going between the two cottages was OK, but wouldn't be much fun in wet weather as there is no covered way between the two front doors. Nearly everything was perfect - comfy furniture and beds, well maintained and clean and warm and well equipped - perhaps a bit more cutlery. I missed having a downstairs toilet especially on return from a long walk. The fridges were a bit small and the spare fridge in the games room was very useful but it is a long way down on the outside steps. We also had to bring up the folding tables and chairs from the games room as there was only one full-size table in each of the cottages. The wifi in Orchard was fine but in Damson the only place we could get a connection was next to the wood-burning fire as that was the nearest place to the router in the next cottage. We had several superb walks, but the dog had to be on the lead the whole time as there were sheep almost everywhere. On the whole a very good holiday and we all enjoyed ourselves. The owners were extremely helpful and generous with a welcome box in each property, an unlimited supply of logs for the fire and a very well equipped games room.
