Firstly, the owners, Peter and his wife could not have been more welcoming and friendly as the bottle of wine on arrival tells all. They were keen to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Peter is a font of knowledge about the local area and festivals and is aways keen to share.
The house itself is very clean and well maintained, the beds are comfortable and all the fixtures and fittings are of very good quality. The master suite on the top floor has a great view and a very comforting feel to it, the bed is enormous! The balcony is a great place to sit at the end of the day with a glass of wine, just be aware that although you are high up you can be seen on that balcony by most of the village below if they look up so be careful what you wear first thing in the morning. The other bedrooms are functional and comfortable but lack any views as they look to the side or the back of the house, that's fine if like us the kids used them. There is a shower on the top floor and a bath on the ground floor, both of which are good but the staircase between is quite steep and winding so if like us you are travelling with elderly parents you need to bear that in mind. The dining and seating area in the house is a little snug for any more than 4 people but in the summer (when we visited) the enormous sun deck with a fabulous view of the valley more than compensates for that if you want family mealtimes. The approach to the house is quite steep and there are quite a few steps to get to the front door, again not an issue unless you have elderly parents and Peter was more than happy to help and adapt the access as required. My only slight criticism of our experience was that the WiFi is not very strong and with 2 boys it wasn't able to cope. That's ok, we played a lot of cards! Also please remember, if you arrive late on a Saturday, nothing is open food wise for basics, use the supermarket in Innsbruck on your way from the Airport as there is also very little open on Sundays either.
If you are driving around, get off the autobahns, you will see so much more and Alpbach and the waterfalls past Neustift are worth the trouble to get to.
Overall, we were very happy with our stay and the area and the people could not have been nicer. We spent the first evening at a Vomp village festival and were welcomed with open arms. We are more than happy to highly recommend this property and its owners if you would like the reassurance of a happy and comfortable stay.
We hail from London, UK and stayed in the house of Nature in August 2018 with a family of 5 kids (2,8,12,15,16) and had a great time.
We found the house to be just as described and as previously positively reviewed by others . We really appreciated finding it spotless upon arrival. The rooms are of adequate size, the bathrooms/showers were also clean and the WiFi was of very good quality (fast enough for streaming via a VPN). We felt very comfortable during our stay.
A real hit was the garden, it is huge and includes its own “hill” which my kids just loved climbing, they did so every day and evening. The house is situated in a really private, discrete and quiet area which for us was perfect.
Kurt was the perfect landlord, met us upon arrival despite it being late Sunday evening. He was helpful but not intrusive, throughout. He sent us helpful advice regarding activities for us to do and prior to our arrival he responded to questions very quickly.
We had the pleasure of meeting his mother who lives right nearby and is a very friendly person. She clearly loves kids and was quick to reassure me that any kids noise would not be a problem (My kids aren’t the quiet type). Having her nearby was not a problem and did not reduce the feeling of privacy and quietness.
Kurt gave us a jar of fresh honey from their own bees which was appreciated and we often helped ourselves to delicious plums from their own trees.
The Zillertal area can be described as a family holiday “paradise”. We did everything from playing in new, beautiful and clean playgrounds at 1900 meters (Spieljoch, 10 minutes away), swimming in the nearby Achensee and Schlittersee, tobagonning on the Rohrberg, relaxing in the Zillertal spa (minutes away), cycling next to the Ziller river and loved having picnic at the nearby Waterfall in Hart (must see for families).
While we were very lucky with the weather (it was sunny and hot during our stay) there would have been enough things to do even in bad weather. There were many things that we never got to do, we just couldn’t do everything.
So if you are looking for a great place for a relaxing family holiday, among friendly people in great surroundings with a big number of activities on offer, look no further than Kurt’s House of Nature in Hart im Zillertal.
