South Hams is a large area in Devon which is comprised of a number of small villages. Stretching around the coast line from the edges of Plymouth and Brixham up to the border of Dartmoor National Park, it comprises a total area of 342 square miles. With a history dating back to Anglo-Saxon times and a strong naval feel, the area is a huge draw for visitors eager to sample the sea air, the many attractions and the walking environment on offer. Weather

South Hams enjoys a pleasant dry and sunny climate which stays mild throughout the year. During the winter, temperatures might drop as low as 2⁰C but tend to remain between 4 and 8⁰C. Meanwhile June, July, August and September enjoy temperatures reaching upwards of 19⁰C. Rain can be expected throughout the year but during those summer months it is unlikely that any more than seven days of rain per month would be expected. During the winter, the days of rain can rise to 25 per month.

Travel

The various holiday apartments in South Hams are very accessible by both public and private transport. By car, the easiest way to approach is to follow the M5 until the junction with the A38. From here, simply follow the A38 into Devon and South Hams. Meanwhile, there are regular buses through the area, and train stations at Ivybridge, Totnes and Torre from which there are regular connections to larger stations.

Relaxing holiday in beauiful surroundings

We stayed for a week in the Lawns with our two teenage boys. The apartment was clean, modern and very comfortable. It has a great patio and BBQ area where we could sit and relax. The indoor and outdoor pools are great and we used them every day. The large grounds are well kept, peaceful and impressive. The Colmer Estate is centrally located and ideal for visiting all parts of the beautiful South Hams. We would highly recommend the Lawns and would definitely will be coming back!
