  • Perfect Italian holiday retreat

What a lovely and relaxing stay we had at Chez Raz. We felt immediately at home in the comfortable house, despite a delayed journey from the UK, and Paola and Paul made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. Ample living and bedroom space in the house and a substantial amount of outdoor space too - a peaceful garden full of fruit trees (the vines were laden with delicious grapes). Great sized pool for our 12-year-old to enjoy and lots of beds and seats for us 4 grown-ups to relax in too. Loved the outdoor kitchen, great idea for those sultry warm evenings and hot days. Spent lots of time fussing over the collection of cats and Snoopy the dog, as well as playing table tennis, table football and lots of board games. Velletri is in a lovely part of Italy, with easy access to lots of places - we only managed a day trip to Rome - and wonderful food and people. We did experience the worst summer weather for around 25 years - quite amazing thunderstorms - and would have liked a little less rain but it did bring respite from the otherwise fierce sun. We hope to come back as Chez Raz is such a home from home and we'd like to spend more time in the area. Highly recommended!

  • A home away from home, in a prefect location for exploring or relaxing

Upon arrival we were met with a very warm welcome, despite it being very late, with pizza, food and drinks for the next morning. Driving upto the house past the wine cellar and olive trees you get a pleasant surprise as to how big Manfredo's home is. The next day we explored the tennis courts, gardens, tintello, wine cellar and olive grove. The house is spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need, bottle opener, electric socket convertors, books on local area as well as reading, maps, sharp kitchen knives, games for the kids... It really has been a home from home. We had a thunderstorm which blew out the electric, but this was resolved quickly and we were kept informed all along, it wasn't just us it was the whole street. The location to Rome is about 25/30 minutes away from the local station into Rome termini, but check the timetable as we missed one and had quite a long wait for the next one, but the parking was free. In the surrounding area there are some amazing places, palestrina, tivoli, ostia and of course Rome. I do recommend a car whilst there. We drove down to the amalfi coast with a few stop offs on the way, about 2.5 hours drive. The shops are nearby to the house and sell everything you'll need, except calpol, antihistamine paracetamol etc.. Which we'd been advised to take before hand as can be expensive when found. We enjoyed the local take away pizza shop on more than one occasion This home is perfect if you've got children and cannot be out everyday as there is some much for them to do at the house, swimming, tennis, swings, slide, ping pong, big gardens and skipping the list goes on and because its gated both ends of the garden it's safe. The kitchen inside is very adequately stocked with cutlery, crockery, pans and cooking utensils. It has a fridge freezer, electric fan oven, gas hob, dishwasher, toaster, dual sink and washing machine in the utility toilet room. There is 3 big double bedrooms, 1 single bedroom, 2 bathrooms upstairs and 1 down, with a utility room that also has a toilet and sink There is a pizza oven in the front of the house, but we did not get time to use this, there was also a bbq avail if we wanted. There is plenty of outdoor furniture, tables chairs and sun recliners. I can honestly say that our only fault with this wonderful home from home is you have to leave it..... But hopefully we will be welcomed back in the future where we will be able to enjoy all that is available again.
