Exquisite Attentional to Detail Winery

  • 5 of 5

An exceptional property with an amazing host! When we arrived I was blown away by the superior attention to detail. As you walk thru the stone laid entry, you are lead to an an open courtyard, filled with the smell of flowers permitting thru the air. The courtyard presentation was purely exceptional with bits and pieces of greek building materials and a fresh spin of art laid through out the courtyard. Within this area is a separate room complete with A/C, 2nd bathroom, and a large soaking tub fit for a king. Never less, I was jaw dropped and couldn't believe how beautiful the place was until I stepped inside. Wow. I'm quiet sure we were speechless. Given the nature Jon's place compared to some of the 5 star hotels, Jon's place is on a completely different status level and puts the hotels in the area to shame.

Additionally, not only did we have an amazing place to stay at we also had an amazing host, Jon. Anything we needed, Jon was more than willing to help from picking up guests from the airport, arranging transportation, arranging quad rentals, to pointing out the best restaurants in town, to booking ferry tickets, and even making us a traditional greek diner (which by the way was phenomenal) among others. In fact, while we were in Greece, we ended up inviting Jon to our wedding as he's such an amazing person and a great joy to be around!

In summary, this is a truly amazing place with an exceptional hosts that will ensure you will have the best time in Santorini. I give my highest regards to Jon and his well kept and super clean winery home!

Rustic Perfection

  • 5 of 5

The rustic yet comfortable nature of the converted winery take you back in time. The fact that the sleeping quarters extend into the hillside makes for the best possible ‘air conditioning’ and wonderful sleeping conditions. The rooftop sitting area is wonderful with shaded and sunning areas, and catches a comfortable breeze. It is also the location of the barbeque grill and creates a wonderful atmosphere for dinning or just enjoying a refreshing Ouzo or a glass of wine from the neighbor’s private stock. Jon arranged a fantastic party one night and cooked countless souvlakis for everyone. Jon shows a special dedication to ensuring that your stay is as fantastic as possible, whether that means personal tours or staying out of sight.

The Perrisa beach, which is the longest beach, is just a short drive away with clear water, tavernas and lively beach bars. We had many fantastic meals at places that Jon recommended.

I look forward to coming back and would recommend this place to everyone.

On arrival at this winery we were struck by just how well the property had been converted with great attention to detail. The courtyard was a stunning place to eat outside in the evening and the views from the roof terrace day or night were simply wonderful. There is so much to see and do on Santorini and the winery is in the best position for this. Nothing is too far away, yet the privacy the winery affords its visitors means that you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of popular Thira and breathtaking Oia yet return to the winery to relax and unwind.

Jon was the perfect host and without his guidance I would have to say we would have never discovered the best places to eat. Nor would we have seen some of the more dramatic beach landscapes. Nothing was too much trouble. He is a great bloke who simply wishes to share the riches that are on the beautiful island of Santorini.

We hope to return next year.

There is so much to see and do

The Winery

  • 5 of 5

The place was great! It has a lovely feel to it and had everything you need… which at a cut price included a car WHICH WAS ESSENTIAL. The Villa is a tad removed but that was what was so nice about it… BBQ’s on the roof terrace on the warm evening with food bought from the local shops… no one around you... need I say more. The beach was but a 5/10 minute drive and was one of the nicer ones we visited in Santorini… The Villa couldn’t have been decorated any better with the owner taking real pride in the place which was evident from his brillient art work on the walls. Which brings me on to the best part about the place and that it the owner himself! Jon couldn’t have been more acomidating and helpful… but that does not mean to the point he was involved in your holiday… he simply said if you need anything I am here to help and he really was. I don’t offten make the effort to recommend places but I came back compelled to do so as I had such a lovely stay. Thank you Jon!

Just perfect

  • 5 of 5

Just the most amazing place to stay with a truly wonderful host. We loved the old winery, it is spacious inside with masses of charm. The roof terrace area is beautiful with lovely views and ideal for cooking and relaxing in the evenings. Jon is informative and helpful and extremely good company, our children also adored him. We had a wonderful holiday really enjoying chilling out on Santorini after a few days in Athens. Definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

Jon is best

  • 5 of 5

We were 2 parents, 1 grandma, 2 eleven year olds. Stayed one week.

The host, Jon, an artist (painter) and former business man, is very friendly and forthcoming. He picked us up at the airport and arranged a rental car from a befriended company and passed onto us a special rate which was 30 Euro per day plus 7 Euro full insurance per day optionally.

The rooms are great and it is a small adventure for city people. Not everyone is staying in a former winery every day.

Jon the host, knows his island very well. He recommended us very good and price worthy restaurants in Perissa and Emporeio and a very good boat trip for 22 Euro per person which covers almost all you need to see in the Caldera area, like vulcano, hot springs, a small neighboring island and Fira.

On the last evening Jon made great supper for us and the kids (hamburgers, souvlaki, cheese and other greece dishes). Jon lives in Greek for already 35+ years and speaks the local language.

The rooms are great, TV and home surround system is great, but we did not use it much. Two showers and toilets available, a nice kitchen with large fridge. All in all with much love for details and very perfect matching of new and old things. We just loved it. His cat is lovely and joined us whenever we did some grilling on the roof top.

We can without doubt recommend the place and especially the host.

As our reviewer of Osnabrück said it, yes, Jon was described as a very good host and it made them suspicious, but well it is true, we confirm it.

One small downside was though, that the outside room was a bit warm in the night and the fan provided did help. But it was still very warm in that bedroom. But that may be an individual issue, others might find it not too warm.
