Perfect spot to explore and enjoy Santorini

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week in Cavern House Helios in June and only wish it could've been for longer! The cave house is stunning, beautifully decorated and we really felt like we had our own hidden gem in Santorini. Panos the house manager was the perfect host, he met us on arrival and explained everything we needed or wanted to know about the house and island, we always knew he was on hand and only a phone call away if we had any issues during our stay. Panos stocked the kitchen up with some food, drink (lovely white wine) and fresh bread to get us by until we could get to the supermarket (by quad the supermarket was only a few minutes away) and every other day he would deliver fresh bread which was a lovely touch. The house is a fab location, we hired a quad bike to get around and explore the island however loved coming back to relax at this hidden little gem of a cave house. We would highly recommend the restaurant Metaxi Mas which is only 1-2 minute walk from the house and is argued to be the best restaurant on the island and we would definately agree, the food, service and location were brilliant! We would definately love to return to Cavern House Helios, it was the perfect spot for us to explore Santorini and we also loved the cave house itself - perfect for relaxing, sunbathing, having a bbq and drinking some of the fab Santorini wine that we discovered! We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in Santorini, whilst its not in Thira or Oia, we didn't feel like we missed out on anything on the Island as we managed to get around (We did an island tour, boat excursion to hot springs, red beach and sunset and a wine tour) but also had the perk of returning back to this stunning gem of a property.

Unspoilt Santorini

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 2 weeks in Cavern House Helios and really enjoyed our time in this quirky property in an unspoilt village.

Panos the property manager was always helpful and never intrusive, thank you for the fresh bread every morning !

We ate at Metaxy Max, in the village , several times and it was very good although you do need to book well in advance.

Panos recommended Aroma a restaurant at the bottom of the hill,(car required) the standard of food was excellent , best seared tuna steak I have ever had .

Best to hire a car , we hired one via Panos and owner recommendation, the car was quite old , Hyundai Getz with 75.000 kilometres on the clock and we could have bought it in the UK for the rental cost ! But when we had a puncture the company were there within 10 minutes to sort it and the car was clean with good brakes and steering so no problem.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope that you enjoy yours.

Breathtaking

  • 4 of 5

Our week long stay in Santorini was perfect especially staying in this beautiful quant Cavern home located in Exo Gonia.

Panos, the property manager greeted us with the warmest welcome and continued to keep in contact our entire stay. He delivered us fresh bread every morning, provided recommendations for restaurants, excursions and site seeing, all of which we did.

I truly can not express how happy we were . We will definitely return :)

just brilliant

  • 5 of 5

From searching for a holiday rental in Santorini for a family wedding we came across this property on several sites. I contacted the owner directly and she came back to me almost immediately. I cannot fault the booking process and communication by text and email was excellent. We were met at the airport by Julian and driven to our accommodation. I was excited to see the property and Iro the villa manager was extremely welcoming and showed us around with great care, offering great tips about the area and supplying her english mobile number which made it very easy to contact her. The property itself is nestled into the hillside and you would have to be mobile if considering staying here as it has many steps and steep hills. It is well equipped with a well stocked kitchen and a great selection of local wine , beer and bubbly was provided, which was a lovely touch. The bedrooms are all cave like in the rock face, tastefully decorated and complete with air con and fans. There are two shower rooms with toilets and you soon get used to the fact that no paper products can be flushed away so bin is provided. The information pack that has been put together is excellent and so useful. We booked a hire car from Sarah the owner whilst in the UK and i would say this is a must. They deliver it to you and pick up when you leave. you need to pay cash though. The WiFi works well in the living room and courtyard , but once in bed in the cave signal is lost. The sun deck pool terrace is accessed up some very steep steps but you soon get used to them. The pool is small and water cold, but very welcoming after sunning yourself. The terrace gets the sun in the morning up until early afternoon, so if you like to sunbathe plan accordingly. The Metaxy Mas Tavern is a five minute walk away from the property and had been recommended by Sarah the owner and she had made a booking for the first evening ( this is a must as without booking you may not get a table) and all I can say is WOW great food, location and such friendly staff. There are specials every night and the menu is not large but has just enough of a selection. Once seated you are given cheese olives and bread cubes and my particular favorite Ice cold Raki which gives you perfect time to select your dishes. There were five in our party so between us we sampled most of the menu and everything was excellent. To finish the taverna brings out sharing deserts on the house, the cheesecake is divine!. A meal for 5 with plenty of wi

Amazing place

  • 5 of 5

This cave house was fabulous. Really quirky accommodation with the most amazing sun terrace and splash pool with fantastic views across the island. The location is great, you definitely need a car, but it's quiet and you feel like you are in the 'real' Santorini. There are some great restaurants nearby, including metaximas, which you can walk to and everywhere is within easy reach by car. As for the owner Sarah, from our very first communication many months ago, she has been so helpful. She organised private transfers, our hire car, booked restaurants for us and there was a lovely 'welcome pack' with ham bread cheese beer wine etc upon our arrival. Iro the manager was also very helpful whilst we were in Santorini. It really was the most perfect week, our only regret is that we didn't book two!

Quirky Cave House

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay.

The house is great , fabulous views in a great location. Very centrally situated on the island away from the hustle and bustle of the major towns.

Although the house has air conditioning in the bedrooms we didn't need it as it's really cool even in the height of summer.

All in all a great place to stay.
