Charming Cottage in Central London

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,100 sq ft
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

3 bedroom cottage with garden

A lovely family cottage consisting of three double bedrooms. Built in the late 1890's this cottage still has many period features. It comes fully equipped to make your short stay in London a relaxing one. It has all mod cons . The cottage is situated on a very quiet road in a safe and sought after area. Our guests will have plenty of space to enjoy after a day out in London. The kitchen is fully equipped to allow our guests to make their own meals. We have a beautiful sunny garden with a table and chairs for those warm and dry nights.During the summer months the garden is the perfect place to enjoy the coffee in the morning/or to have a glass of wine before heading out.

The cottage is situated in Highbury ,London. This is one of Londons's smallest areas and the postcode ids much sought after by families looking for a house to either buy or rent. Our guest will find the the stunning Highbury Fields and its splendid Georgian Arhectiture a few moment from the house. This is a 15 acre open parkland that is too tempting to resist that spring or summer picnic.

The cottage is close to several transport links allowing a quick journey into the heart of London.Highbury and Islington Station is on the Victoria Line on the tune/metro and will get you to Oxford St in just 4 stops.

There are numerous shops restaurants and bars all within walking distance, The closest supermarket is Waitrose. There's also a small Tesco Metro on the next street over. This should have all the essentials for your stay if you don't wish to visit the larger Waitrose.I have to mention the wonderful La Fromergie cheese shop in Highbury. This shop is a pure foodie heaven(if you love cheese and wine) They often have tasting nights that are a pure delight to indulge in.You can also take the cheese away to have back at the house.

A 15 minute walk away is the vibrant and rather busy Upper Street in Islington. There are so many restuarants on the street it's very difficult to choose which one to dine at. You'll find that Upper St can be as busy as the West End! There's the excellent Morgan M restaurant/a must visit if you're into fine dining.

However, many of our guests choose to stay in on some nights and for this we have a LCD TV.DVD player, selection of films and games for children.

There's plenty of pillows, blankets an duvets for up to six people. The living room also has a double sofa bed.Upstairs there are three double bedrooms. There's a full bathroom with a very powerful shower.

Nice place, good location

  • 4 of 5

This place is in a great location, about 8 minutes walk to Arsenal or Highbury Islington tube stations, and just a few minutes from Highbury fields.

It has a very basic kitchen with the necessities, and a bonus dishwasher. The washroom looks to be more recently renovated with a great tub. The bedrooms on the second floor are nice, both double beds. The 'bedroom' on the third floor is a converted attic - fine for shorter kids, but gets very warm, and we were there at the end of May.

Overall a nice place in a convenient location.

Great property, centrally located!

  • 5 of 5

I must say, I had a great stay at this property. It is conveniently located - quite close to Central London - with different tube and train stations nearby. Also, you can easily find different supermarkets, restaurants, and pubs. A large townhouse with a garden in a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood. Both James and Alex did their best to attend all our needs.

Good location, has everything you need

  • 4 of 5

situated almost equidtistant from Arsenal and Highbury/Islington tube stations, so travel very convenient on two different lines. Esp. helpful, no change needed from Heathrow if getting off at Arsenal.

This flat has everything you need, good written instructions and a very accommodating and cheerful personal welcome from Alex who will orient you and was extremely helpful. Grocery stores within walking distance, and rental is quiet (caveat, not there during a football match). Pleasant residential neighbourhood with all amenities within walking distance. There were a couple of lightbulbs not working when we arrived, but it wasn't bothersome enough to call for replacement which I am sure would have occurred had we called.

The lovely italian coffeepot seen in the kitchen picture is decoration only - not functional, for those who love their espresso, but there is a bodum.

One warning - not for very elderly or impaired folk or those with heavy luggage, as the stairs are very steep and narrow and the bathroom and bedrooms all require going upstairs. My son had just done a long bike ride and his achilles tendon was inflamed, so going upstairs was not pleasant for him either. The lower shelf in the fridge door needs fixing as well as it is non-functional - don't put your drink bottles there as they will be deposited on the kitchen floor first time that you open it.

Otherwise if you are mobile this was an excellent rental and good value for money, the kitchen was generally well equipped and the beds were comfortable. I will go back if it is available next trip - location close to central London and pleasant walking to and from the tube.

Very comfortable with swift organisation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Whistler St. from Thursday until Sunday. Prior to our arrival, the communication with Charlene and James was always very easy and friendly. We arrived early on Thursday morning and James waited at the property for our Arrival.

The house itself is perfect for a getaway with the family and offers plenty of space. Especially the fully equipped kitchen was very comfortable for us. Everything you would ask for is provided by the owners and therefore we felt very much at home. The location is great for arrival from Stansted as the Express goes directly to Tottenham Hale from where you can easily take the tube. Within close walking distance to the house we found the Picadilly as well as the Victoria line which provide perfect access to the city itself. Also in walking distance you find plenty of nice restaurants and cafes as well as a supermarket.

Overall I can highly recommend staying at the property and will certainly return in the future.

Great house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at this property. We found

everything to be working well and it was well equipped. The location is perhaps not really central but there are two tube stations within 10-12 minutes walking distance (Piccadilly and Victoria lines). The tube takes about 12-15 minutes to the absolute centre of London. For us it was the absolute perfect compromise between price and location.

We arrived late in the afternoon and found a guy called Alex waiting for us. He was very helpful and showed us around the house. Only cash payment so remember to bring wads of money. I could have wished for a more formal reciept of the payment than writing at the back of a piece of paper, but there was no problem afterwards.

The house is as houses of this type goes I suppose. Relatively small, but still fits 4 persons without any problem of stepping on someone's toes. Narrow stairs so you'd better leave your large suitcase downstairs. The condition of the house was good considering that the house must be from the 19th century I am guessing. For us, having watched lots of English television series, it felt almost like you'd been there before. The charm of the row of houses when you get to Whistler Street, when you open the front door, when you look out the tiny backyard really is like a deja vu.

I can highly recommend!
