|Minimum Stay||3 - 4 nights|
A lovely family cottage consisting of three double bedrooms. Built in the late 1890's this cottage still has many period features. It comes fully equipped to make your short stay in London a relaxing one. It has all mod cons . The cottage is situated on a very quiet road in a safe and sought after area. Our guests will have plenty of space to enjoy after a day out in London. The kitchen is fully equipped to allow our guests to make their own meals. We have a beautiful sunny garden with a table and chairs for those warm and dry nights.During the summer months the garden is the perfect place to enjoy the coffee in the morning/or to have a glass of wine before heading out.
The cottage is situated in Highbury ,London. This is one of Londons's smallest areas and the postcode ids much sought after by families looking for a house to either buy or rent. Our guest will find the the stunning Highbury Fields and its splendid Georgian Arhectiture a few moment from the house. This is a 15 acre open parkland that is too tempting to resist that spring or summer picnic.
The cottage is close to several transport links allowing a quick journey into the heart of London.Highbury and Islington Station is on the Victoria Line on the tune/metro and will get you to Oxford St in just 4 stops.
There are numerous shops restaurants and bars all within walking distance, The closest supermarket is Waitrose. There's also a small Tesco Metro on the next street over. This should have all the essentials for your stay if you don't wish to visit the larger Waitrose.I have to mention the wonderful La Fromergie cheese shop in Highbury. This shop is a pure foodie heaven(if you love cheese and wine) They often have tasting nights that are a pure delight to indulge in.You can also take the cheese away to have back at the house.
A 15 minute walk away is the vibrant and rather busy Upper Street in Islington. There are so many restuarants on the street it's very difficult to choose which one to dine at. You'll find that Upper St can be as busy as the West End! There's the excellent Morgan M restaurant/a must visit if you're into fine dining.
However, many of our guests choose to stay in on some nights and for this we have a LCD TV.DVD player, selection of films and games for children.
There's plenty of pillows, blankets an duvets for up to six people. The living room also has a double sofa bed.Upstairs there are three double bedrooms. There's a full bathroom with a very powerful shower.
PLEASE NOTE-WE DO OUR BEST TO KEEP OUR CALENDAR UP TO DATE.WE ALSO HAVE OTHER FLATS THAT COULD BE AVAILABLE.PLEASE CONTACT US FOR MORE DETAILS.
The listing description regarding the location and layout was perfect. The apartment was clean and very well.maintained. The owner provided a very good customer service and I will recommend this apartment to my friends.
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at this property. We found
everything to be working well and it was well equipped. The location is perhaps not really central but there are two tube stations within 10-12 minutes walking distance (Piccadilly and Victoria lines). The tube takes about 12-15 minutes to the absolute centre of London. For us it was the absolute perfect compromise between price and location.
We arrived late in the afternoon and found a guy called Alex waiting for us. He was very helpful and showed us around the house. Only cash payment so remember to bring wads of money. I could have wished for a more formal reciept of the payment than writing at the back of a piece of paper, but there was no problem afterwards.
The house is as houses of this type goes I suppose. Relatively small, but still fits 4 persons without any problem of stepping on someone's toes. Narrow stairs so you'd better leave your large suitcase downstairs. The condition of the house was good considering that the house must be from the 19th century I am guessing. For us, having watched lots of English television series, it felt almost like you'd been there before. The charm of the row of houses when you get to Whistler Street, when you open the front door, when you look out the tiny backyard really is like a deja vu.
I can highly recommend!
We´ve been in this house a second time this year and our stay was as wonderful as last time! It´s clean and friendly, the heating runs very well, and you walk only a few minutes to the underground. We´ll come back next year!
Having three children under the age of 11, we normally try and get a week in west wales for a summer holiday. this year we decided to take them to London for a week. We got a coach to Victoria, thus an easy tube ride to Highbury/Islington, and a 15 minute walk to the house. Alex greeted us, and showed all of us the ins and outs of the house , with professionalism and courtesy, it was very reassuring... The two youngest were excited to be in the "Paddington" room (a bedroom in the attic - like in the film...), easily accessible..and very comfortable, all the rooms were clean, tidy, and comfortable, the kitchen had all we needed for an easy stay. Dishwasher and Washing Machine working well and saving time for us That first night we ate out at a great pizza place in Holloway Road, having found that the Arsenal tube was even closer, and there was a fully stocked Tesco Express en route, within 5 minutes from the house. Also, having a 6 year old daughter who supports Arsenal (!), having the Emirates, viewable from the house / the shop on the way to the tube, made for an excited nipper!! We travelled around central London all week, the museums, some theatre, "shopping"in the centre, the Eye...all the tourist stuff..and getting to and from Whistler street was a breeze...even on the tube strike day, a 15 minute walk to Gillespie road and the 91 into central London. Then all back to the house within 40 minutes from South Kensington, or even quicker from Oxford Circus / Picadilly... the house was a great relaxing base to return to , with all the amenities (TV/Cable /Hot Showers)we needed to keep the kids entertaining when worn out, and even a small table/chairs outside for a glass of wine when the kids had gone to bed, its a really quiet area. So, Thankyou Whistler St, we have three really chuffed kids and two exhausted parents! We'll be back next year too! Brilliant!! Highly recommended for city break with Kids...from our point of view
My wife and four children stayed here at the beginning of a summer long trip to the UK. This cottage was quite comfortable for all of us for a week. We spent little time there, though, as we were out and about exploring all week. I was surprised by how quiet the neighborhood was, except one night when the neighbors had a party. Other than that, we were very pleased with the accessibility to the Underground, which opened up every avenue to experience London. Whistler Street is very close to good restaurants and a Tesco Express. The highlight was the playground in Highbury Fields. Our children are ages 4-10 and they loved playing there. We had a great time in London thanks to this place!
A beautifully presented cottage situated moments from Highbury Tube Station. The 7 minute walk will take you past some stunning Georgian houses and the tranquil Highbury Fields.
