Why Scott Graves chose Marigny
Located in the French-Quarter-adjacent Marigny Triangle with only a 3 short block walk to the Frenchman Street music clubs. Six blocks to Bourbon Street. A streetcar stop is one block, if you want to venture out of the neighborhood in New Orleans style. Spend a weekend in one of America's most historic cities enjoying one of the town’s many historic residences.

What a gem!
Scott was a great host. The property is in close proximity to Frenchman St and the French Market, French Quarter as well as trolley stops.
Thank you for your review, Kimberly. I hope to host your visit to New Orleans again next year. Scott
The location was close to the trolly, grocery store, Starbucks, and restaurants. The owner is very friendly and offered great tips to enjoy our stay. Everything looks just like the pictures of the place. Very clean. Towels and bath mat need to be replaced.
Thank you, Mary, for your review. I feel fortunate to live in a location with all those perks; glad you enjoyed. I'll check those towels & bath mat; thanks for the tip. Scott
Fun in Marigny
Staying at Southern Strokes in Marigny worked very well for our time in New Orleans. Walking distance to everything. Scott is a terrific host and gave us some good tips on things to do and sites to see even though our primary purpose for being in town was Jazz Fest. The accommodation was very good - could update a little in the bathroom but everything else was fine. Plus we had a beautiful courtyard in the back of the home. Thanks again Scott.
Thank you, Harry, for your review. So glad to know you enjoyed your accommodations, the semi-tropical courtyard and the convenient location. I hope to see you again in the future. Scott
Scott was a congenial, personable, generous, and an attentive host. His historical knowledge of the neighborhood is encyclopedic. The rooms were well kept, and comfortable. The location is quiet, the gardens are lovely, and are convenient to Frenchman’s Street, the French Quarter, and the Bywater, not to mention some of the best restaurants in Nola. I very much enjoyed my stay
Thank you, Lyle, for your kind review. It was a pleasure meeting you, too. Scott
Close to the 'other' fun parts of New orleans
This is a few blocks from the French Quarter, but also close Frenchmens, which we enjoyed more than the Bourbon Street tourist thing. Also the Foubourg area across the street is pretty cool, with lots of small cafes coffee shops. Scott is very friendly and eager to share tips about the area. The place is exactly as it looks in the pictures. It's quite spacious, bed is a bit hard for my taste, but better than too soft. Kitchen is very basic, and there's no table to eat at (not even a coffee table) so if you cook a meal, you're eating in your lap. But why would you cook anyway while you're in New Orleans? We just had breakfast and the occasional sandwich. The fan in the bathroom didn't work, so it got a bit misty after a shower. One night we had noise from the neighboring unit - it sounded like they were talking in our closet - but aside form that it was very quiet, especially considering the arterial street.
Overall, a good value. Not elegant, but you get what you pay for.
Thank you, Rhonda, for your review and your kind words. I'll have the fan checked and look into adding a table as you suggested. I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay and the excellent location. I hope to see you again in the future. Scott
Great location and cozy property!
We enjoyed our stay at Scott's property. He gave us great information about the area and NOLA in general when we checked in, which we were very grateful for! The location is great, as it's right on the edge of the French Quarter and just a few blocks from great music on Frenchman's Street. It's also very close to streetcar lines, and there is a grocery store across the street.
A couple of things to be aware of:
The property is loud. It's close to a busy intersection and there is a lot of action there, so expect lots of sirens and voices of people on the sidewalk as well as horns honking at all hours of the day/night.
We would have really liked to be able to open the windows for some air at night, but there are no screens on the windows. Unless you are ok with bugs opening the windows for fresh air is not an option.
The shower is tight so if you need a big shower this would not be the property for you! The hair dryer would run for about 2 minutes and then shuts off, starting again after a few minutes of cooling off. I'm assuming it's overheating?
The property is older and quite outdated, but if you are like us we really just needed a place to crash so that wasn't a big deal.
Faubourg Marigny (pronounced Foe-berg Mare-in-knee) Is French Quarter adjacent and New Orleans' oldest creole suburb (established 1803). The neighborhood is dotted with restaurants, bars, coffee shops and one of New Orleans' favorite night club & entertainment spots is Frenchmen Street (only three blocks from your door).
