What a beautiful home! It's in a great and private location with a fantastic view of the mountains. A great home for 2-3 couples or for family with children, everthing is there for fun, just bring your clothing and food! We enjoyed the pool table, home theater system and wireless internet, all the comforts of home! Very reasonably priced. We can't wait to return to Bear Ridge! Thanks for allowing us into your wonderful home in the mountains!

Just as great as the last time!

  • 5 of 5

This was the second time we stayed at Ray's cabin and it was just as nice the second time around. We (our 2 grown sons and one of their girlfriends) stayed last Fall in October and again a few weeks ago in July and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We've come to really like the small vineyard/winery just down the road, Hightower Creek Vineyards so we visited them again and brought a case of wine home (try their muscadine wine Dueling Banjos!) We rented a boat for a day at the nearby marina Boundary Waters and had the best time on the lake. One of the nice things (and there are many) about this cabin is it's location! You feel very secluded but at the same time you are near Hiawassee for shopping, etc. and close to Helen so a day trip there is always on the agenda. We went to Brasstown Bald again and hiked to the top for a beautiful view of Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina. At the cabin, we really feel like we are on vacation and everything is provided. We enjoy playing pool in the evenings, making s'mores at the firepit, and taking a dip in the hot tub. We felt like it was our cabin while we were there and that is a special feeling like a home away from home. We will definitely be staying there again and again.

Birthday Celebration

  • 5 of 5

This was our third visit to Bear Ridge and once again we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This time we went with two other couples to celebrate a friends 60th birthday. The house is perfect for 3 couples or a large family as it has 3 separate levels, all with a private BR and bath. The kitchen is well stocked so that if you want, you can do all your cooking there. Just bring your food and your beverages of choice. The views are incredible as you are about as high up as you can get there. And the owner is always very easy to work with. We will surely return again.

Pretty property, but has some issues.

  • 3 of 5

The cabin is gorgeous and the furniture is very comfortable. There are some issues though. The porches and outside furniture were dirty so I had to clean and sweep before we could enjoy them. They have a bad carpenter bee problem, so if you go when the bees are active, be prepared. The air conditioner quit working while we were there. I called the property manager around 6:30 pm and she said she would call me back....never did. I called the owner and had to leave a voice mail... he texted me at midnight. Since it was hot in the house, nobody slept well. We left the next morning so I don't know if they got the problem fixed or not. It would be a fantastic property if you could depend on someone to take care of things when a problem arises and to make sure the porches and patio firniture are clean.

Owner's Response: I am sorry we did not meet your expectations, we do our best to insure that your stay is the best stay in the mountains, but sometimes things are beyond our control. This is our first 3 star review in 10 years. this year the pollen is heavy and covers the outdoor furniture every day and the carpenter bees have been extra heavy this year and the cabin is wood which they love. We try to explain to our guests that we are in the mountains right up against the National forest which is not the same as your local suburb where they spray for insects and have fewer trees. My manager was contacted at approx. 7pm on a Saturday, night that the air conditioning was not working you also told her it was 76 degrees inside the house. she immediately contacted myself and tried to find someone in the area that would respond late on a Saturday night, and we were unable to get someone. I know that I had conversation with the guest at approx. 9:30 pm. We always respond and try to fix the situation obviously this time we could not.
