Newly constructed and spaciously comfortable, Sage Mountain Villa has three air conditioned bedrooms and three and a half baths. The home is on two levels and is completely screened. This home was created by the well-known BVI architect Michael Arneborg. Integration of architecture, landscape and interior design was his fundamental approach. Michael Arneborg was widely considered to have been the premiere architect of fine family homes on Tortola, in the West Indian style.
Sage Mountain Villa is located on the West End of Tortola, an area that has become one of the most upscale sections of Tortola. Along with yacht chartering and supplying, there is interesting shopping available in Soper's Hole Marina. The West End area has many fine restaurants. The island's most popular beaches are just a short drive; Long Bay Beach, Smuggler’s Cove, Cane Garden and others. The villa has 3000 sq ft. of beautiful living area and is on one half acre of beautifully, tropical landscaped property. Sage Mountain Villa enjoys sweeping ocean vistas and captivating ever changing views of the sea and islands beyond. It is on an elevation of 450 feet and is located in Romney Park. Restaurants are equally close; BananaKeet Café, The Sugar Mill, Long Bay Beachfront Restaurant and new to the area in Little Apple Bay, D' Coalpot BVI to name just a few. For the diving enthusiast, Blue Water Divers at Nanny Cay Marina is a short distance toward Roadtown.

A convenient half bath is tucked just around the entry foyer and a full laundry is available adjacent the kitchen. This villa is equipped with a water purification / filtration system.
The air conditioned master bedroom with cathedral ceiling is spacious and airy. It resides on the main level in privacy away from the central activity of the home. Through screened glass sliders, it opens up to the front balcony where picturesque vistas will capture much attention. The ensuite master bath is finished in stone travertine and has an over-sized walk-in shower.
A staircase leads around to the lower level and there are two large, bright air conditioned bedrooms each with an ensuite full bath in stone travertine. Screened glass sliders open out to a glorious colonnade surrounded by a captivating array of colorful floral, Caribbean plantings and more dramatic Vistas. Teak and wicker furniture accented with bright color enhance the Caribbean flair. The home is wired for Wi-Fi, cable TV, an audio system and local phone.

This is a fantastic time to visit Tortola; Feb, March, April & May. The weather is absolutely superb!
For the diving enthusiast:
Blue Water Divers is a 5 minute drive up Sir Francis Drake coastal Highway to Nanny Cay boating facility.
They offer a wide range of diving activities. Diving trips to the RMS Rhone, beginner classes and for intermediate and advanced divers, there are trips to numerous beautiful dive sites around Tortola. Their twin hull dive boat is comfortable, smooth riding, easy to climb out of the water and on to and will take a non diving spouse for the excursion.
Thank you so much! Enjoyed the location! Had a wonderful time and could not have chosen a better villa! My husband and I are actually interested in a return trip to Sage Mountain Villa!
We did make it home despite the arctic temperatures in Chicago.
We had such a phenomenal experience at Sage Mountain Villa on our first visit that we didn't hesitate to book again. The house is top notch with every amenity you could want. Sharlene and Amin were on call and ready to help with whatever we needed. We booked cars with Denzel Kline who met us at the ferry and were friendly and helpful.
Our 3 sons (ranging from 17-25) love the villa, the "authentic" experience of the BVI (limited tourists, no chain hotels), and the easy access to beaches and other adventures. This year my husband and sons experienced scuba diving the incredible coral reefs around Tortola with Blue Water Divers out of Nanny Cay (the oldest family owned dive operation in the BVI - impressive team who managed a range of needs with humor and patience). The instructors/dive masters were fantastic, and the diving was memorable for all levels. They got amazing underwater GoPro video of turtles, parrotfish, barracuda and more, and after a great day of diving, walked down the boardwalk to the beach cafe/bar (Peglegs) for fish sandwiches and beer. For $10/pp we could enjoy the Nanny Cay resort pool and beach - worth every penny.
On another day, we split the group and 2 of us hiked up the access road from the villa driveway to the top of the mountain to Tingalayo (a small resort) and found an amazing life-size Buddha sculpture that looks north over the beautiful Tortola beaches to Jos Van Dyke, then spent the rest of the day relaxing around the beautiful pool at the villa, sunning and swimming before grilling up a shrimp dinner for the diving crew.
And this visit, we found Smugglers Cove - an experience we'll never forget - a "hidden" pristine beach in the West End where we practically had the beach to ourselves to snorkel and sun for the afternoon. If you go, don't miss the chance to belly up to Nigel's Beach Bar for grilled fish and famous Painkillers (the local island drink). Nigel is a one of a kind, assisted by his cousin Andrew, a retired island police officer with stories to tell. The vibe is low-key and fun with boaters dropping anchor and swimming to shore to grab a bite and visit with Nigel.
We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner for a second year at The Sugar Mill, a beautiful candlelit experience with incredible local food in a renovated stone mill, with waves crashing in the background.
The weather was incredible, the house was absolutely beautiful, and the experience unparalleled. We'll be back!
The most beautiful view I have ever experienced. Waking up to it each morning was heaven. Our family lived in the pool and enjoyed the beautiful well-stocked home. We will be returning!
Really good things about Sage Mountain Villa include: the pool (clean, with great views); the outdoor area (large, great views, shady areas, breezes; built in grill); the rooms (clean, good size, great views, A/C although breezes and ceiling fans worked fine for us); the location (10 minutes from West End ferry, Harbor Town grocery store, Long Bay beach); the management team (Sam, Sharlene, Amin - courteous and helpful); value for money (especially if there's just two guests). Definitely need a 4-wheel drive rental car (Sam will help with that) to get up to the house and around the island. It's on the south side of the island, so sits above residential properties (seems that everything on the north side is a vacation property, and everything above the 300ft contour on the south side) - check out the 3D terrain map on the Apple maps app on your iPhone/iPad to get a very accurate sense of the detail.
My husband and I recently spent three weeks on Tortola in the Sage Mountain villa. As experienced travelers we have rented houses globally and can honestly say that this lovely house is perfect in all respects. The house is tastefully decorated, easy to maintain, has an excellent floor plan, a well equipped kitchen, and marvelous views to top it all off. As mentioned in several other reviews, the road to the villa can be challenging, so definitely the rental of a jeep is necessary. For the first-time driver in BVI, this may be intimidating at first, but your reward upon reaching the property will absolve any dismay quickly.
We had several personal challenges to which Amin and Samantha responded graciously and expediently, helping us to solve our difficulties.
I cannot praise the management company enough. Thank you for making our recent vacation a memorable one.
My wife and I stayed at the property last year and enjoyed it so much we stayed there again. The house if wonderful and part of the "fun" is the drive up to the house. You must have a 4 wheel drive vehicle to reach it but once there its worth the drive. We have been to Tortola many many times and love the island. This year we rented from Dedes through the rental agent the car was waiting for us at the West End Ferry along with Amin. Since we had stayed at the house previously we knew how to get there - except for one wrong turn. Amin and the housekeeper remembered us and were both extremely nice and helpful. The condition of the house is excellent and we completely enjoyed being there. I had suggested to the management company that there should be a safe such as you find in a hotel and they said it would be taken care of. We enjoyed it so much we shall be booking it for next year. Highly recommend Sage Mountain Villa for a stay in Tortola. The pool is beautiful and we swam in it every day
We have flown into Tortola many times, on our way to Virgin Gorda. We decided to stay on the island this time and we were not disappointed. The home is situated up a long, steep, winding road - the first trip up and down from the house is quite daunting!! Once you get used to it, it becomes part of the adventure (but is not for the meek). The driveway is very steep and even with our 4-wheel drive vehicle we had difficulty. However, the house was TOTALLY worth it!! Mr. and Mrs. Bates have an absolutely beautiful home and we thank them for sharing it with us. We cannot say enough about the beautiful appointments in and outside of the home. The house was clean, well stocked and the beds were comfortable. We had no surprises. There were labels with instructions on all of the kitchen appliances that we found that quite comical. The view from the pool deck is fabulous. Best of all - no matter what time of day you are outside, you have peace and quiet!! It was almost magical at night to sit outside, gaze at the stars and listen to the coqui sing. We had the house stocked with food upon arrival and we highly recommend that. We were very pleased with the staff of Villas of Tortola (especially Sam who returned our emails very promptly and Amin who met us at the ferry dock and took us to the house.) Generally, we were not impressed with the food or drink on the island. We found ourselves in Road Town a time or two and that was way too crowded for us. We had difficulty finding many common food items in the multiple grocery stores as well (fresh seafood, chicken, etc.). We would recommend a safe in the house, a cooler to take to the beach and better pool loungers. Overall impression = excellent home in an excellent location!! We would not hesitate to recommend it to our family and friends. In fact, we may be back ourselves!!
