Spacious self-catering apt with secure underground parking though car not necessity owing to perfect location.Situated on the neck of a grassy headland with miles of clean, safe beaches on either side and close to the delightful new marina and stylish promenade.This immaculate fully furnished self-catering flat overlooks a park which mixes palm and jakaranda tree lined gardens with play areas to suit all ages from infants to teenagers to 100 yr olds and includes swings, skate park, 5 aside football pitch as well as an outdoor gym.

We believe we have equipped the apartment with everything you will need for a happy holiday. Sleeps 5 - 2 bedrooms, one with double bed and second with twin beds plus sofa bed in the lounge. The large balcony overlooks the lovely park and is equipped with patio table and 4 chairs (others can be moved outside) Communal solarium . The lounge and double room have lovely views of park and UK, French and Spanish TV, computer, traditional board games and varied library. Air con provided on meter basis. PC and full Wi-Fi Internet access included in the price. Hairdryer, picnic and beach equipment. inc 2 Bodyboards child/adult. Adapter plugs provided. Well equipped kitchen. Washing machine, iron and ironing board.

Puerto de Mazarron, Murcia: Parque del Faro apartments are nestled on a headland in a perfect location for access to all local amenities, beaches, shops and harbour with its wonderful restaurants, promenade and views. Watch the fishermen bringing in their catch in the commercial harbour or admire the luxury yachts in the newly rebuilt leisure marina. Why not walk up to the Faro (lighthouse) and watch the sun rise or set in spectacular fashion. The atmosphere is relaxed and the views over the bay and behind to the mountains are wonderful. This is not a place for those seeking package holiday entertainment but one where you can recharge the batteries on a wide choice of beaches, enjoy the local sports scene or simply watch the world go by. There are restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets but if you want a McDonald's you can always go to Cartagena which is 20 minutes away (approx 6 euro by bus ) and also has a rich Roman history, including amphitheatre 19th century submarine & museums which will keep historians of any age occupied for hours. Take a trip around the bay in Cartagena and learn more about the history of this ancient harbour which still caters for submarines and ocean liners or take a dolphin watching cruise in Puerto de Mazarron. There really is something for everyone!

Mazarron has a wonderful array of beaches to suit every taste. The promenade beach follows the sweep of the bay towards La Azohia to the East and is perfect for children aged 0 to 100! To the West there are fine sandy beaches with surf and beach Volleyball at Bolnuevo. Playa de la Reya is a lovely cove with fine sand next to the smaller marina. Restaurants can be found all along the coastline along with tree lined promenades and walk ways. A tourist information pack is provided in the apartment with details of many different sites, activities and restaurant suggestions and recommendations.

The Castillitos or 'Guns of Mazarron' as they are affectionately known lie to the east of La Azohia at the top of a mountain road which is not for the faint hearted. The drive and views are fabulous and military historians will find the 14 inch Vickers built guns and now derelict buildings fascinating. The drive from Isla Plana through the 'forgotten valley' is wonderful and the old customs house which looks like something out of Zoro is worth a stop.

Further inland the fort at Lorca provides a fascinating insight into the history of the area but beware you may be tapped on the shoulder by a medieval knight. The Sierra Espuna provides miles of mountain and forest trails for walkers and cyclists and picnic areas as well as scenic drives and the opportunity to see wild boar and North African mountain goats.

At the end of September Cartagena comes alive with lavish re-enactments of the Roman defeat of new Carthage. Some 2000 locals take part in this event and families are loyal to their roots! Mazarron's fiesta is in mid April (see Tourist info website)

A Phoenician wreck lies in the bay just off Isla beach in Puerto de Mazarron and the Roman fish factory next to the harbour is fascinating.

Out of season Puerto de Mazarron provides warm weather and relaxation away from the colder northern European winters. In season it is a vibrant family holiday resort catering for all interests and ages. A traditional holiday destination for Spanish families which is becoming recognised as a little gem by savvy visitors who return year on year.

About Anne Oliver

Hi, this apartment is our family's holiday home which we use during the winter months primarily. We are a family of 5 living between the Lake District and Morecambe Bay and so have benefit of dividing our time between two very beautiful locations.

Why Anne Oliver chose Puerto de Mazarrón

We love Puerto de Mazarron because of the family atmosphere and the fact that it is still a Spanish town with wonderful beaches, restaurants and markets. There is so much history to explore and every time we visit we find a new beach to explore or vineyard to visit. The apartment is located within a short, flat 120 metre walk from the lovely marina, fishing port and promenade so ideal for families with young children and people with reduced mobility. Perfect for early morning and late evening strolls.

What makes this apartment unique

I think the fact that my guests return year on year speaks volumes for the flat and its location. My local "team" do a fabulous job of caring for the apartment and welcoming and supporting my guests. I could not do without them. The flat is always spotless and repairs and faults corrected as soon as humanly possible. The apartment is equipped with everything to cook full meals and even has a water purifier so there is no need to buy bottled water. The underground parking and air con are invaluable in the summer months. We have never regretted buying the flat for a second and look forward to spending more time there as we hit retirement age.

Tea and coffee are available and our wonderful meeter and greeter will arrange a starter pack on request if you are likely to arrive late or on Sundays. A wide variety of restaurants are located in the harbour and there is a supermarket a short walk away. Puerto de Mazarron is well serviced with supermarkets including Mercadona, Consum and Lidl and so fresh bread and produce can easily be bought daily - to enjoy on the balcony washed down with wonderful local wines! All bedlinen and towels are provided but please bring your own beach towels. If you have any specific requests please do not hesitate to ask and we will do our best to accommodate you. For those not wishing to hire a car collection can be arranged from Murcia or Alicante airports. The area caters for young children and teenagers as there are numerous play areas and safe beaches. Shops shut 2pm Sun. Wheelchair and mobility scooter hire available locally as well as bicycles.

Lovely comfortable stay

Apartment well situated for easy walk into the town or down to the harbour. Nice restaurants and bars, food excellent. The apartment was very well equipped and comfortable, very clean and would definitely book again.

Apartment was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. It was well positioned for the harbour, the shops and some really good restaurants. Watching the sunset from the balcony, over the mountains, was amazing. Would definitely return again

Perfect location lovely and clean with all the home comforts

Situated on the Costa Calida (also known as Warm Coast or Spanish Cornwall) Puerto de Mazarron is the traditional holiday destination for Spanish families seeking clean safe beaches, beautiful climate (300 days of sunshine per year), beach front restaurants and glorious sunsets. On the Costa Calida and in Puerto de Mazarron you will find sports facilities and training schools for sailing and diving, tennis, and horseriding facilities. Excellent golf courses are within 20 minutes drive and for the very young there are playgrounds on the beaches and parks. For those interested in history Mazarron has its own museum and the historic city of Cartagena is 20 minutes away. The abandoned fort and gun emplacement, Los Castillitos, in the coastal mountains a short spectacular drive away provide fabulous views along the Costa Calida coastline. The Sierra de Espuna National Park with its wild boars and beautiful forest provides a wonderful day out for all the family and is about an hours drive away.

Other Activities: Museums, dolphin watching and pleasure cruises, nature reserves, disused military installations

Golf: Nearest course is at Campusol or El Pareton, 20 minutes drive away or at La Manga on the Mar Menor about 40 minutes drive away.

Beaches: Town beach is 150m from the apartment and to either side of the park there are beaches for many many miles, some are golden sand such as Bolnuevo, others pebbles or black sand. There are very safe lagoons for small children and more challenging surf beaches for the more daring. Perchelles plage about a 15 minute drive away provides palm tree lined beaches and tiny coves.
