1 Br/1 Ba, King Bed w/Queen Sleeper for a couple or small family with 1-2 kids.

**Sadly our condo's building lost its roof during Hurricane Irma. Though Kachi Ra is on the ground floor, there is still much water damage to deal with. We hope to be ready to accept guests by spring 2018, so please keep us in mind for a future stay!**

We do our best to ensure you love your time here as much as we did when Kachi Ra was our home.

Air conditioned bedroom is the perfect place to get a good night's sleep at the end of your days exploring this beautiful island. Cozy, casual with rich mahogany surroundings in a quiet, safe, residential neighborhood full of mature growth trees, new furniture, flat screen tv, wireless internet, digital cable, and Apple TV with Netflix account.

Kachi Ra (Kachee'-rah) is just 20 steps away from a great pool and gas grill on an expansive sun deck with lounges and views of Little St. James and Pillsbury Sound. The condo offers direct access to the Caneel Hill trail, a beautifully picturesque hike.

Located only one mile from the ferry dock, Kachi Ra is within walking distance of town and a very short ride by car.

About Andrea Chouiniere

Ted purchased this condo in 1999, fresh out of college. I (Andrea) met him in 2005, and it was here at this condo that we fell in love and started a family. We moved out of the condo in 2010 to better accommodate our growing family, and started renting it out short-term to accommodate budget-savvy travelers like ourselves, and we hope island visitors enjoy their time at Kachi Ra as much as we did.

The condo is located in a quiet neighborhood, very convenient to Cruz Bay and North Shore beaches. The condominium complex is home to a mix of long-term residents, condo owners, and short-term rentals. It's a peaceful place where neighbors look out for one another. Get your day started with a hike on beautiful Caneel Hill trail, which can be accessed directly from the condo property and will take you to sweeping island views, Cruz Bay, or north shore beaches. You can't beat the pool right outside your door, great for a dip in the quiet morning hours or for a refreshing swim after a long day at the beach.

What makes this condo unique

Ted works hard to constantly improve the condo. He handmade the gorgeous bathroom countertop, which evokes a nautical feel. He retiled the bathroom shower in a gorgeous dark slate, painted the kitchen cabinets, and built out the desk space and shelving. There are lots of little handmade touches throughout Kachi Ra that make it unique.

King bed with Simmons BeautyRest Pillow Top mattress - Queen Sofa Sleeper in living room with upgraded Sealy Posturepedic Mattress. Fold-out ottoman cot bed with memory foam mattress can fit in bedroom or living room. Note to those considering a July-October stay: the small portable A/C unit is perfect for taking the edge off during this hottest time of year. It does not transform the bedroom into a 68-degree icebox during these very hot months, but many of our guests have been happy with its cooling abilities. We also offer numerous fans for the bedroom should you need them, including a ceiling fan, a large box fan, and two small portable fans.

Great Condo Close To Town!

Great condo! I stayed with my wife and 2 kids, ages 10 and 7 months. The bedroom was large enough that the cot and pack n play fit, along with a very large bed, so everyone could enjoy the AC. The pullout would have worked too but we went with the cot in the bedroom. Plenty of room for the four of us. My son loved the pool. Very private. The neighbors we did meet were very nice. The location was great. About 5 minutes to cruz bay. In the pat ive used wifi to keep in touch back home, but it wasnt working. But I think thats just the way it goes on the island sometimes. Overall, Andrea was very accommodating and easy to work with and the condo itself was fantastic. Thank You!

Owner's Response: Thank you for being so understanding about the internet issue! You are correct, it's one of those "island things," and it's rare to find a vacation rental on St. John that will guarantee uninterrupted utility service for the duration of your stay. That being said, we are in the process of securing a backup internet service provider so hopefully none of our future guests will have to go without. You guys were great guests, so glad to hear you enjoyed the condo!

Great stay

Wonderful property with everything we needed. Very clean, well appointed, extremely comfortable bed. Beautiful views from the deck and pool area. Conveniently located just outside of town, very peaceful. We would definitely return.

We'll return to this great home base

My family loved having Kachi Ra as our vacation home-base. (This was my third visit.) There was plenty of space for our 1.5 year old toddler to play, and the WiFi and TV options meant we had access to his all-important favorite PBS cartoon. We all enjoyed the air conditioned bedroom overnight, and the pool in the afternoons. The owners were extremely helpful with advice and arrangements for our toddler - they supplied a pack-n-play and indicated a very convenient kid gear rental service for a car seat and booster high chair. Their recommendation for a local babysitter was STELLAR, and allowed us to take 2 Low Key SCUBA day trips, and return to a happy, well-fed, and rested child. It’s a great island for a family vacation, and we felt very welcome, thanks to Kachi Ra's hosts.

Quiet, cozy condo

Our stay at Kachi Ra was relaxing and enjoyable. We had breakfast on the porch every morning. Kitchen was stocked well. Loved having the "Snapware" available to pack lunches for the beach everyday. Spacious living/dining room area. Location was great; not too far from the town of Cruz Bay and very convenient to get to the beaches. The Dolphin Market at the bottom of the hill met all of our grocery needs. Beach chairs, cooler, noodle, raft were great to have as we went to a different beach everyday. We've seen the comment about the couch needing replaced, and definitely agree with that. We were not able to get Apple TV to work, but not sure if it was just us or if something was wrong. No big deal, though, as we were able to use the WiFi to get the Stanley Cup games on the iPad.(We are from Pittsburgh! Go Penguins!)

Overall, a great value, and we would definitely stay here again.

Home away from Home

We truly enjoyed staying at this apartment. They had new furniture, a great location near the pool and excellent views. The bed was super comfy too. My only very very minor criticism is the kitchen is dated. But who comes to St. John's to be in the kitchen all the time! We highly recommend a stay here. We hope to return!

Great location for island exploration
