We do our best to ensure you love your time here as much as we did when Kachi Ra was our home.

Air conditioned bedroom is the perfect place to get a good night's sleep at the end of your days exploring this beautiful island. Cozy, casual with rich mahogany surroundings in a quiet, safe, residential neighborhood full of mature growth trees, new furniture, flat screen tv, wireless internet and digital cable.

Kachi Ra (Kachee'-rah) is just 20 steps away from a great pool and gas grill on an expansive sun deck with lounges and views of Little St. James and Pillsbury Sound. The condo offers direct access to the Caneel Hill trail, a beautifully picturesque hike.

Located only one mile from the ferry dock, Kachi Ra is within walking distance of town and a very short ride by car.

About Andrea Chouiniere

Ted purchased this condo in 1999, fresh out of college. I met him in 2005, and it was here at this condo that we fell in love and started a family. We moved out of the condo in 2010 to better accommodate our growing family, and started renting it out long-term. We now rent it out short-term to accommodate budget-savvy travelers like ourselves, and we hope island visitors enjoy their time at Kachi Ra as much as we did.

The condo is located in a quiet neighborhood, very convenient to Cruz Bay and North Shore beaches. The condominium complex is home to a mix of long-term residents, condo owners, and short-term rentals. It's a peaceful place where neighbors look out for one another. Get your day started with a hike on beautiful Caneel Hill trail, which can be accessed directly from the condo property. You can't beat the pool right outside your door, great for a dip in the quiet morning hours or for a refreshing swim after a long day at the beach.

What makes this condo unique

My husband worked hard to constantly improve the condo during our years living there. He handmade the gorgeous bathroom countertop, which evokes a nautical feel. He retiled the bathroom shower in a gorgeous dark slate, painted the kitchen cabinets, and built out the desk space and shelving himself. There are lots of little handmade touches throughout Kachi Ra that make it unique.

King bed with Simmons BeautyRest Pillow Top mattress - Queen Sofa Sleeper in Living Room with upgraded Sealy Posturepedic Mattress. Fold-out ottoman cot bed can fit in bedroom or living room. Note to those considering a July-October stay: the small portable A/C unit is perfect for taking the edge off during this hottest time of year. It does not transform the bedroom into a 68-degree icebox during these very hot months, but many of our guests have been happy with its cooling abilities. We also offer numerous fans for the bedroom should you need them, including a ceiling fan, a large box fan, and two small portable fans.

Perfect spot for a home base and had everything our family of four (kids - 9 and 6 needed).

We fell in love with St. John eight years ago in our first visit. We knew we wanted to take our kids there when they were old enough to snorkel and home to really experience the island. We got to that point this year, but didn't think we could afford St. John as I just started my own company in January. I found this rental and emailed with Andrea who was very fast at responding. After hearing that we could accommodate both kids and us, I booked eight away. I am so happy that I did. We had our best vacation to date. The condo had everything that you could want and the view from the pool was amazing. The beach chairs, sand toys, pool floats, beach towels, etc... made it so much easier to travel and more fun for the kids. We enjoyed the view from the deck so much that we ate breakfast and many dinners out there too. And - there was a dish washer (and dish soap) - who gets that in a vacation rental? The only minor complaint is that we would have loved to keep the windows open at night,but the roosters in the area don't have the best internal alarms as they were talking all night. We did have to close the windows and turn on the air conditioning at night to drown out the noise or our six year old would wake up before sunrise. However, that's nothing that the owners can control and there are roosters all over the island (which was actually really fun). The other really nice thing was having someone greet us at the ferry dock to take us to our car rental place and then guide us to the house. After a long day of traveling it was so nice to not have to lug our luggage around Cruz Bay while we tried to find the right place or argue with each other on directions trying the find the rental (I can only imagine the stress this would have caused as the condo is a bit hidden off of the main road). One more thing - we have stayed in a lot of condos through the years and most residents ignore you at best. Here they went out of their way to check in and offer suggestions for your trip. We couldn't believe how friendly they were. Oh. - and the trail up to the viewpoint from the condo was an adventure rewarded by one of the best views I've ever seen. Overall, this condo was perfect for our needs and allowed us to give my 6 year old a "life changing vacation."

great value for what you get

Overall we are very happy. It's not perfect but didn't affect how we felt at all or how much fun we had. There is a little road noise (I prefer to be a little more remote but that's just me), the wood on pool deck could use refinished, and the couch in the living room is ready for replacement. Our 10 and 12 year olds slept on the pull out couch (they were fine and loved the vacation but it could use replacing -- our oldest complained a little about it being uncomfortable the first couple nights). Everything else was great! The place has everything we need... beach chairs, coolers, gear, kitchen stuff, etc. Everything was well thought out, nice, clean, and we had an absolutely great vacation! The place is convenient to the cruz bar restaurants and shops. Easy to drive to beaches. St John is our favorite Caribbean island and this condo allowed us to have a great experience without breaking the bank. It was very affordable compared to other options... especially if you eat at least some of your meals in the condo. We bought groceries at Dolphin Market and Starfish Market. I would very highly recommend this place to any couple or small family looking for affordable yet comfortable option in St John / Cruz Bay.

Kachi Ra is everything it promises!

This condo was the perfect vacation getaway spot for our family of four. It is convenient to Cruz Bay and the North Shore beaches, the pool was a huge hit with our 7 and 5 year old children, the interior is lovely and comfortable and the rental provides all the necessities indoors, outdoors and for the beach. This is a fabulous value!

First Trip to St John & It was Beyond Fabulous!

We are not the resort or hotel type at all, and having a comfortable home to come back to at the end of a full day of hiking, swimming and snorkeling was a wonderful thing. The morning views at breakfast couldn't be beat and the moon and stars have never appeared brighter than the nights we sat outside underneath them. Everything we needed on night one was right there and getting to town to pick up incidentals was a breeze. The hike from the trail behind the condo to Salomon Beach was the perfect way to set off our first full day and get us in the St John mindset. It was bittersweet, leaving St John and returning to our real world but knowing that it will be there waiting for us to return and holding on to the awesome memories we made will get us through until the next time!

Very Relaxing

Great condo! Well appointed with all you need. Pool is great to relax in with a spectacular view. Easy to get to Cruz Bay and to hiking. I will be back.
