The house at the lake is outstanding. Relaxing and gorgeous. And so convenient. We stayed with two families and enjoyed every minute of it. The most beautiful house and landing on a beautiful lake. Fully stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and toys for the kids. We will come again.
We found the place very suitable for us . near the beach.
clean warm lake . everything works. Great TV , well organized kitchen.
Thank you Nora. we will come again.
Spirit of the Lake is the perfect name for this home. It's lovely. The high point was the picnic we hosted for friends, who then frolicked in the lake. It really is a nice place to spend a week. You feel as though you're in the country -- but you're also just ten minutes away from shopping centers, urgent if you're hosting guests.. The one reason I am not giving this five stars is sort of silly, I suppose, but I hated the shower. The water pressure is awful and I was unhappy about the slippery tub. But everything else was great and the house is truly well-equipped and comfortable. Also, Nora was very patient with us when we had trouble accessing the wi-fi and the tv. God knows why we had such trouble, but she spent hours on the phone helping us. I just re-thought the week. It was hellishly hot, but there is air conditioning and that gorgeous lake. Five stars.
This is our second visit to the property, the first visit in October we had an enjoyable time once the homeowner contacted the next door neighbor about the radio/music playing very loudly in his vacant detached garage which kept us awake for two nights. The radio/music was more quiet this visit.
We were told prior to arrival of this visit, the key would be left in a specified area (which I do not want to disclose for safety of the property). Unfortunately, the key was not where we were told it would be. I called, emailed and messaged the homeowner who seems more difficult to reach than previous visit and after several messages back and forth, including me asking could we have a locksmith come and open the lockbox that was broken so we could have a key? And more than two hours waiting to come to the fact with the homeowner that a neighbor 1 mile away had a spare key and could we go to pick it up from there. This was not a good start to our visit after a 14 hour long drive.
Upon entering the house, we needed to use the facilities very badly. There was no toilet paper to be found in the bathrooms, or in the utility closet. This was very frustrating, considering there is a cleaning fee, apparently the cleaner had just left and the reason there was no key. One would think that there would be toilet paper available -this is specified on the listing as well that it will be included.
Later in the evening, we wanted to watch the television, however the cable was not working. Once again, emailed/messaged the homeowner that night and just went to bed. We called again the following morning and left a voicemail but did not receive an answer back until after 11am when the cable finally worked.
The coffee pot had not been emptied and we had to clean the old coffee grounds and stale coffee out of the holder before using it the morning after check in - which was a frustrating start to the morning.
I did ask the homeowner if we could have a nights reimbursement for all of the troubles. The homeowner stated if we wanted to stay an extra night at no charge, that would be ok. However, we were on a schedule and could not stay another night - this offer sounded nice but wasn't really feasible. I have asked again for a nights reimbursement and was told we would have a complimentary night on our next visit. However, who knows when/if we will be back to the area.
For more Than a premium per night rate, I would think things should be more up to par.
We had a wonderful time here over a long weekend. While the weather was chillier than expected, it was a great place to be cozy and watch the rain on the lake! We enjoyed using the grill and eating by the water when the weather behaved. We had a Sunday brunch at Birdsall House during our stay. Nora was informative and helpful before/during/after our stay. Thanks!!
We came to have a family weekend. The lake house was lovely and comfortable. Everything we needed was there to cook and dine in. My daughter and I even made cookies! The views on the lake were beautiful. Close to Peekskill for shopping, dining and the train. Bear Mountain State Park is just across the bridge with beautiful views of the Hudson! Nora was super responsive and accommodating. Will come back!
