This has to be one of the top ten views on Cape Cod! The view covers a beautiful winding estuary, striking sand dunes, Sandy Neck Lighthouse, Barnstable Harbor, and miles beyond! The feeling is a combination of the awe of nature and a special sense of peacefulness.
Inside, the house is spacious, with high ceilings and attractive furnishings. Glass, pottery, carvings and art adorn the interior. The living room ceilings are 18 feet high, a floor to ceiling stone fireplace accents a very spacious contemporary structure. Built in 1976 by a Cape Cod bird carver as an inspiration for his artistic endeavors, this property is privately situated, nestled at the end a short dirt lane the ends at the property. There are three structures on our point of land, two houses and a cottage, all of which are surrounded by over 300 acres of conservation land. The setting is rural, with wildlife and nature dominating the scene. We have a very close view of the osprey nest and there are two additional osprey nests in the woods behind our property. It is hard to capture the feeling in words or a photo, but it is special.
The view goes for 10-20 miles and covers 270 degrees. The first level of view is the salt marsh with the winding estuary, the second level is Cape Cod bay and the sand dunes, and the third level is of Barnstable Harbor and the Sandy Neck lighthouse.
There are three decks, all at different elevations. The upper deck, off the loft bedroom, captures the best view, showcasing the birds in flight, swooping and diving. There is a small army of cottontail rabbits. The sunsets here have nicknamed this area as Cape Cods Sunset Alley. For many of our guests, it is a destination spot and much of their vacation time is spent relaxing at the property or on Grays Beach.
The new Barnstable airport is just 15 minutes away and the Nantucket ferry terminal is also just 15 minutes away. We are a mile and a half north of historic Route 6A. Cape Cod Playhouse is 15 minutes away with summer theater, art exhibitions and the Dennis Cinema showcasing unique movies. 5 star restaurants are within the same distance. Route 6A is well known for antique shops, clam shacks and art galleries. The quaint village of Yarmouth Port has excellent examples of 19th century homes lining Route 6A and showcases classic New England villages along the winding scenic drive.
The house is setup like a lodge, with each bedroom having a separate space in the house. Bedroom #1 is located on the mezzanine level and is the largest bedroom. It has high ceilings and a skylight. There is a king sized bed and a single daybed in the room along with a 32 inch flat screen HDTV, and has a large master closet. It is a good room for someone travelling with an infant. Bedroom #2 is smaller, featuring a queen sized bed, cathedral ceilings and a skylight. The bay window captures the best bedroom views in the house and includes a window seat. Bedroom #3 is the smallest bedroom, but is perched on the highest level of the house. The private deck offers majestic views of the marsh, bay and beyond. There is a queen sized bed with new Laura Ashley pillow top mattress (soft) and a large closet, as well as a private bath It has its own staircase and privacy, sort of like a separate apartment. AC is provided throughout the house.
The kitchen boasts new cabinets, its own breakfast bar and a wonderful breakfast nook overlooking the view. It’s accented by a beautiful white Villory and Boch porcelain sink. Appliances include dishwasher, electric range, cabinet style refrigerator and countertop microwave. We provide Keurig coffee and Poland Spring water as well as a supply of paper goods. The silverware and dishes are well chosen. The main bath on the mezzanine level has a tub/shower, sink and toilet accented with a glass vessel sink.
The living room has a floor to ceiling stone fireplace that rises 16 feet; and is the focal point of the interior. The living area has new leather furniture and a new 42 inch HDTV with a Blu-ray DVD player as well as a library of DVDs and CDs.
Experienced Cape Cod travelers know this area as the Chase Garden Marsh. We are north of Route 6A and are located just 18 minutes over the Sagamore Bridge. The boat ramp is 3 minutes walking distance and Grays Beach is the same. The beach is very safe for young children, shallow water and no rip tides. There is a play area for children with swings and there are walking trails everywhere.
We like to call it a place to find yourself again and let the natural flow of life wash the stresses of modern day living away. You will know the minute that you get here, you can feel it. Even though this property is close to civilization, there is a remote feel about it. The backyard is nice and clean, but very natural, spacious and welcoming.
I am also the builder and manager of this property. You can enter Maritime Properties Cape Cod in your search engine to speak to me directly either by phone or email. Thanks for considering my home for your Cape Cod vacation.
I've been in real estate and building for the last 30 years and we've done quite a bit to enhance this beautiful property. New furniture and art are changed and added every year to create a wonderful vacation environment. Staff is always close by to help with any concerns.
There is a quiet solitude here that is both pleasant and relaxing. We are one of three structures that are surrounded by 300 acres of conservation land. It kind of feels like you are on the edge of the world, looking out over an expansive view with no end. It is a place you should visit at least once.
The structure has architectural features in a very interesting multilevel floor plan, the privacy of a conservation area and the awe inspiring feeling of nature in one property. All of the interior colors were tested and designed to capture the light changes here as the day moves on. It is north of Route 6A, very desirable, close to: whale watches, charter boat fishing, ferries to Nantucket, antique shoppes, The Cape Cod Playhouse, clam shacks, art studios, glass blowing....and grocery shopping is just 10 minutes away, a luxury on Cape Cod. We are located in the charming village of Yarmouth Port, home to many historic buildings (tours available) and to the famous Inaho restaurant. There are five golf courses within 20 minutes. Guests can rent a kayak and have it put in the water at Gray's Beach, a three minute walk. There are miles of estuaries for paddling. Gray's Beach park has 2 pavilions, bathrooms, a playground for kids and a field for whiffle ball. There are about 5 miles of walking trails right out the back door of your home that wind over bridges with views of the marsh and the bay. Boats can be put in a Gray's Beach landing and guests can motor to private places with sand and water. It's quite the spot.
Many rental homes on Cape Cod have just the basics. This house has many upgrades. The deck furniture is teak, the HDTV is the latest model with Yamaha home theater surround sound, we have a library of music and movies. There is also a Playstation 3 for the best blue ray movies and gaming experience.
The living room furniture is well kept leather and custom finished cherry. The fireplace is handcrafted stone and the interior railings are mahogany with stainless steel accents. The three beds are all very comfortable, high quality mattresses, no old lumpy beds. All of the flooring is new.
We have prepared a Cape Cod guide book that will help you locate the best activities, restaurants, sandwich shops and more and will help you more fully enjoy your time here.
We had a wonderful time in your unbelievable house. Everything was better than advertised, the views......astonishing! What a comfortable place. Thanks for being a great host!
We had a great time celebrating our wedding anniversary!!
Great romantic location, beautiful sunsets! Wonderful ever changing landscape due to the tides. A short walk to Grays, to start and end the day and lingering at the end of the broadwalk is enriching. While we didn't see the Ospreys the nests are right there.
Rick is an excellent, helpful, unobtrusive host. We wanted to start a fire, couldn't find the fireplace tools, we pinged Rick in less than 30 minutes Rick had the fireplace tools at our doorstep!
Highly recommend Rick's place for good times and creating memories!
We rented the beach house for Thanksgiving this year, and had a wonderful stay! My family and I were bowled over by the breathtaking views in every room. Location could not have been any better.
The quick walk to Gray's was the perfect way to start and end the day. What a fantastic find!
This house was amazingly gorgeous! the layout was nice, porch was great and the views even better! There was nothing not breathtaking about this view! The only this was to get to the beach across you had to have some floating device or you can park at chapin !
I loved this house owner was great would defiantly book again!
The location was perfect for our 10th year vow renewal on the boardwalk - we were looking at that view everyday and simply couldn't believe how beautiful it was.
Everyone had a great time including our 2-year old nephew who saw rabbits in the backyard everyday. The place was clean and ready for us. The kitchen was very clean too!
The challenge we had on the day we arrived was that the 1st page of the instruction to the TV was not available - I would recommend it's emailed before arrival so such incidents don't occur. We couldn't watch tv that 1st day and it was tough when you have kids to entertain. I couldn't get in touch with Rick that day & it was frustrating.
Otherwise, Rick was always helpful and available and we had a wonderful time. We would definitely recommend this property to everyone. Thank you, Rick!
Beautiful home great location! Peaceful and relaxing, everything we hoped it would be and more!
The owner was very nice to work with. We had an unfortunate event happen during our stay and Rick was very prompt and helpful. House has a beautiful view and is very welcoming. Only a few complaints but they are completely opinionated and may not even be meaningful to others. -Skylights in bedroom make sleeping in pretty difficult. -Additional mirrors would be beneficial.. Only mirrors are in bathrooms so makes it difficult for multiple people to get ready at the same time. Otherwise, we had a great time and would recommend this place to others!
The property is about 100 yards from the Town managed Beach area and boat launch. It's easy to put in a small boat, kayak or canoe. Large power boats are not able to use the launch, the water depth is too shallow. There are estuaries that go for miles and there is access to private beach areas. In addition, there is a large parking area and picnic tables and benches available, restrooms and a playground for small children. There are miles of walking trails in and around the salt marsh.
Travelling north and south on route 6A, you feel taken back in time to turn of the century captain's homes, large structures with wrap around porches and detailed gable trim. Art, books, antiques or fried clams, it's all available on 6A.
We are also just 15 minutes from Hyannis Harbor and the ferries to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard and the newly renovated airport is also just 15 minutes away. Day trips to Chatham or Provincetown are between 30 and one hour one way.
Plus we are just 20 minutes to the Sagamore Bridge, very helpful in the summertime.
