About Marie

We've been married 38 years and love Florida. Marie is a Florida native and Kevin moved here when a small boy. In our 37+ years, we've lived in 9 cities in Florida and they all have something special, mainly Friends!

Marie purchased this condo in 2003

Why Marie chose Florida Central Atlantic Coast

Close to Orlando and a relatively unknown area - a world away from the tourist traps and 'party' hangouts of other Florida beach areas. 30 minutes to St.Augustine, from our door.

Gorgeous Golf Courses and exclusive communities (Hammock Beach)are our neighbors on one side; environmentally protected lands (which can Never Be Developed) on the other!

We also love the art galleries & chic European atmosphere of nearby St. Augustine --- when we can tear ourselves away from the Beach!!

What makes this condo unique

One of the last uncrowded 'true beaches' in Florida. We always bike and walk for hours - time just slips by because its so beautiful and pleasant. While biking the trail or walking the beach, We've seen: peacocks, turtles, starfish, DOLPHINS, Florida bobcat (@Washington Oaks Park), Eagles and more. Not to mention shells, starfish, and crabs. And yet, I've Only seen 3 jellyfish in 12 yrs. (unlike Destin, Fl where I see multiple jellyfish and 8 wks of "June Grass" Seaweed which clings like hair! Also, in 2015, Red Tide for 1 month, making many sick & killing massive amounts of fish)

Guestbook comments from the owner

I think Carol & Barry meant to say they stayed here in March 2009, NOT 2008. And hopefully, they will be back with us again sometime in 2010!!

We stayed at the condo a week ago. SO hard to come home! We had a great time. The condo is absolutely wonderful. The view is breathtaking! The condo is nicely updated and was very clean. We loved taking our coffee down to the shore early in the morning to watch the sunrise and the dolphins. We also enjoyed long walks on the beach, the amazing rock formations and collecting shells. The condo is close to numerous attractions. We had a couple of awesome days in St. Augustine and also visited Daytona Beach which isn't far at all. There are some great local restaurants. JT's Sea Food Shack was great and close by. I think we only ate out 3 times as we really liked cooking something up and enjoying dinner on the balcony with that amazing view. After sight seeing, it was so nice that at the end of the day you can go back to this wonderful quiet place, kick back and relax on the balcony and watch the most amazing sunsets. The pools were wonderful as well. We have recommended this condo to our friends. Marie is so easy to work with. This place is a gem. Hope to return soon!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to share your review. I couldn't have said it better myself. I often want to stay on the beach until the last possible minute (sunset) & then just rustle up a quick dinner in the kitchen so we can stay in the relaxed beach mode after a hot shower. Hint: Publix supermarket has great (fresh) Sushi - we usually have 1 or 2 sushi nights during our stay.

The Best Beach Stay!

  • 5 of 5

My fiancee, children and I had a fabulous stay in your condo. The condo was clean with updated kitchen appliances and had just about everything we needed for our stay. We had dinner a few times on the large balcony. There is a fantastic view of sunrise and dolphins swimming early morning:-); just a short, less than 15 minute walk across the street(although, I would suggest you drive to the boat club), you can catch the most beautiful sunsets....and see more dolphins! We were able to enjoy long beach walks early morning and early afternoon before high tide, and it was very easy to navigate down the coquina rocks. Beach chairs, umbrella, some toys, and plenty of beach towels are there, so no need to bring your own. The owner, Marie, is really kind and always available by phone if you need to reach her. I can say so much more, but I don't want to turn this into a dissertation:-) oh yeah, having no Wi-fi in the unit was not a problem for us, because it gave us more family time and less time on electronics, but if you need to do work you can go to the lobby. This was the perfect beach location for my family, because we were far enough away from congested, touristic areas, yet close to many places to eat and fun activities for the children. We would definitely visit again!

Owner's Response: Thank you, Miss M, for this unsolicited review. Your experience of enjoying our unique beach & quiet setting is why in >9 years, we've had 47 very positive reviews, & that doesn't even include those who loved their stay but didn't take the time to write/post a review here. I love sharing our condo with people from all over the world, & Learning a bit about their life & experiences also.

Nice condo, but DON'T TRUST the pictures if you like the beach!!

  • 2 of 5

We (myself, wife, 12 yo daughter) stayed in this condo for a week and were pleased overall. TV is huge (channels are lacking), balcony has a great view, the kitchen/bathroom are very nice. The property was well-maintained, apportioned and clean. On the negative side, the beds leave something to be desired comfort-wise, there is no wifi, and the elevators are unbelievably slow. Restaurants require a decent drive.

If you enjoy the beach, and are expecting an easily accessible beach that you can use anytime you wish, read this review and STAY AWAY rather than rely on the pictures provided on the site, as they are quite deceptive. The picture on the site with the umbrella and chair shows one of the rocks , though it does not convey the reality that before you can get to the beach in the picture you have to climb over a 20 yard stretch of these boulders (if you want an idea google "coquina rocks palm coast" and look for a picture with a person standing on one for scale). And don't think about going around, as they go as far as the eye can see in both directions (conveniently not pictured/described). It was also exactly the same before and after Tropical Storm Colin, so don't think/let anyone tell you that's the reason.

Once you get over the rocks, you should only plan on having about 2 hours before and after low tide to use the beach, so you will have to plan your day around it and hope the weather doesn't mess up your small window. If you didn't see this in the disclosure, don't beat yourself up as its only mentioned in the caption to the 23rd picture. This picture shows the beach, but not the rocks the caption is describing (again convenient).

If you don't like the beach, this place is fine. If you do, don't make the mistake I did and assume the pictures are a good faith representation of the beach. I asked the owner to update the description to accurately convey the beach aspect, but seem to have been unsuccessful. Hopefully my comments above will accomplish that and prevent anyone from making the same mistake I did in the future!

Owner's Response: I'm sorry Mr. S was disappointed in our Coastline. If he had contacted me about this during his stay, I could have recommended 2 nearby beaches (Marineland public beach & Matanzas inlet) which many other reviews have mentioned going to. I stand behind my honest & frequently updated photos. I've had conversations with potential renters, who, due to an elderly or frail relative (i..e. hip surgery etc) or even a need to bring a wagon full of sand toys & playpen (for 3 tiny tots) needed to know that this would not be the beach for them. I have 47/49 reviews which are overwhelmingly positive. 5 just in 2016 already. The highest percentage overall in Surf Club I, on VRBO. And many more who emailed to thank me but did not post reviews - because I don't harass people to post reviews. Lastly, I thank Mr. S. for mentioning the positives of the updated condo, the wonderful TV, and the cleanliness. And the very NEXT guest after Mr. S reviewed us with 5 stars & loved having 4 hours of low tide each day to enjoy the beach with her small children. I welcome any questions from potential renters.

Fantastic Place to Relax

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at this beautiful place, everything was just as it said. The kitchen was like new and a joy to cook in and everything else was very clean and neat. Marie was so nice to deal with and provided so much information. While yes you do have to walk over the rocks to get to the beach it wasn't that big of an issue for us and the rocks make it unique when you walk down the beach or sitting watching the waves at high tide. The balcony has to be one of the highlights of this condo, we would just set and watch the ocean and had some great sun rises. Lots of great places to eat around Captains Barbecue is fantastic as is Salsas. St. Augustine is only 25 to 30 minutes away and we went twice. We will defiantly be coming back and highly recommend it if you want to just get away and relax.

Overall good time

  • 4 of 5

The Condo was great and had all the amenities anyone could ask for. The Surf Club 1 facility is very well kept and excellent security. The only thing my family did not like was the short time frame that we had a beach each day. The coquina rocks are neat to see, but in the spring, low tide would only go out far enough to get out on the beach for 4 to 5 hours a day . If a person is not sure footed, walking over the coquina rocks could be a challenge. During Spring break. we always enjoy getting up and walking on the beach to watch the sunrise. That was a no-go at this beach. It was waves crashing against rocks at sunrise every day of our stay. I talked to the year round residents while relaxing at one of the very nice pools. Apparently in the Winter there is relatively no beach to get out on because of the high tide. During the Spring and Fall there are only time frames that the tide will go out far enough to have a beach to enjoy for a few hours a day. Per the reports of the year round residents, during the summer time there is a beach most of the day. The location of the condo was great for the many good restaurants in the area from St Augustine and down to Daytona. Overall a good relaxing vacation.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. I'm sorry you weren't able to enjoy sunrise at water's edge - but happy that the beach was accessible about 4-5 hours a day. Our beach is susceptible to weather & tides & timing (sometimes low tide IS at sunrise). We also noticed THIS year there was less sand in April than many other years. Fortunately, one can usually walk in the deeper sand above the rocks (right next to the protected green space)in order to enjoy the ocean view. Glad you enjoyed the pools and etc. FYI, early Fall usually has lots of beach also, then it gradually changes heading into winter.
