Great stay in Harlem
My boyfriend and I had a great stay at Dennis' apartment in Harlem. The apartment is spacious and has been decorated very tastefully. Check-in and out was simple and straight-forward. Great location. Would definitely recommend.
Will Definitely Book The Harlem Hideaway Next Time In NYC!!
This was the best rental choice I've ever made! Dennis, the owner/host, has taken care in every detail of making this a real-deal NYC experience. The apartment was very clean, extremely neat, and the neighborhood was excellent. There were tons of things to do around the apartment, and my husband and I felt safe walking around night or day. We even found parking for our rental car all 4 days we stayed. Our favorite thing to do was hang out on the stoop and people watch, which Dennis kindly recommended us doing. Can't wait to get back in the future!
Large, stylish room with lots of light; host genuinely interested in the community
The Harlem Hideaway was a perfect home base for my time in NYC! It was close enough to everywhere I wanted to visit yet far enough to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city when it was time to rest. It had a unique character and wonderful charm! Dennis was wonderful as well! I will for sure stay here again upon my next visit!
A very special Hideaway
We were so lucky to find this property. We started our holiday with a cancelled flight and in contact with Dennis was no problem he just moved our stay one day each end, so we could also change our flight home... at no extra cost. From our point of view Harlam hideaway has the best location and a real feel for old fashioned New York. Dennis is amazing and full of local knowledge. He has a real passion (and I don’t blame him) for this amazing property that he owns. Everything is original and kept beautifully. It really did feel very special coming back here after busy days out. The location is also fantastic, the subway is just a few minutes walk. Dennis has umbrellas for the rain. The neighbours are very friendly. I have to say I felt 4 nights was just not enough. As 2 British women celebrating our 50ths we found Harlem very safe and very friendly. A fantastic coffee shop just round the corner. Wonderful easy access to the whole of Manhattan. And the added bonus of our own fridge and kettle/kitchen utensils a real bonus (you wouldn’t get this in a hotel). Dennis is never far away if you need him, and the privacy and feel of the place was beyond our expectations.. thank you.
The Harlem Hideaway is on West 119th Street in Harlem, New York City. Marcus Garvey Park is just over a block away, with a public swimming pool, and the famed Central Park is only 9 blocks south of this rental. There is a grocery store and laundromat within 2 blocks, and the nearby Lenox Avenue offers a variety of restaurants and convenience stores. Also on Lenox Avenue, you will find the Lenox Lounge where you can enjoy jazz music, and the Red Rooster Restaurant, staples of Harlem. The West 125th Street shopping corridor includes major stores, such as H & M and Marshall’s, and on Frederick Douglass Avenue you will find restaurant row.
Public transportation is convenient with the 2/3 subway station just over 3 blocks away, offering both express and local train service. The A/B/C line is also nearby, about 4 blocks away

Why Dennis Decker chose Manhattan
Harlem is the soul of New York City. It is not just about the incredible architecture. This is the friendliest neighborhood I have ever lived in- the best area in Harlem.
What makes this Studio unique
The quiet friendly tree-lined street, proximity to express subway- only 4 stops to Times Square, closeness to neighborhood coffee shop and historic park, as well as the 125 St. corridor and Central Park. I actually love sitting on the front stoop while having a coffee or a glass of wine. I love seeing the relaxed street life going by, and being a part of it. Since my block is dominated by private brownstones, rather than apartment buildings, it has a friendlier, small town feeling than most other neighborhoods.
