Anna purchased this house in 2008
We fell in love with the property because of it's amazing location away from the road, private in this nook with this beautiful stone wall towards the mountain.
We had 3 families with very small children and it was the perfect vacation home. Anna was a great host and even set up changing stations and diapers and wipes for out little ones! The house was the perfect balance of modern but homey and had more toys than the kids knew what to do with! Which was great for the parents to keep them occupied! Anna also made some suggestions of going to the light house which was so lovely and the watering hole nearby. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning again! Thank you Anna for having us in your beautiful home!
Our family of 4 (2 adults, a toddler and a baby) stayed at this property for a week at the beginning of October. We had a wonderful time! The house is exactly as depicted - very clean, attractive and well stocked with everything you need! Anna was very helpful and got back to me quickly with any questions. She was so sweet to leave toys out for our little one to play with. She had a ball in the little sand box and with the train set. We didn't get to use the outside amenities too much since it rained three days, but they are very attractive and we would love to return when the kids are a bit older to make smores and have a BBQ. We loved that the bathroom supplies were natural/organic and that there is no microwave - right up our alley! The kitchen is well stocked with anything you need for cooking and it was nice to have the w/d so that we could cut down on packing. The location is perfect for exploring the area. If you don't have a lot of time, I would skip the town of Catskill altogether - not much at all to do/see there. But, Saugerties is very cute and we ate at Lucy's twice (lunch and dinner) - it was FANTASTIC!! The little market right in Palenville was awesome and had wonderful sandwiches and pastries. We also visited Red Hook, Rhinebeck, and a bit of Woodstock - all worth a trip. We drove to the top of the mountain and took a walk/hike around North Lake - definitely a beautiful view! I highly recommend this house for anyone visiting the area - especially if you have little ones!
We really enjoyed staying in this house. We have two girls, 5 and 2, who were so excited to find the child bedroom and all the toys all over the place. We loved the privacy, the rest of the town has the houses close to each other but here you feel like you are in the middle of the woods, and most of the living room are windows!
And with that many windows I was worried about drafts (we stayed in December and it was cold) but the house is so well made, cozy and comfortable. I'm a big fan of prefab houses now!
In December there isn't much to do around the area unless you ski/snowboard. But was enough for our short stay, we went to the Kaaterskill falls, visited Firedighting museum and Forsyth center with a small cute zoo, and just spent time running around the house with a sled and exploring the forest paths.
It must amazing to rent it in the summer. May be one day we'all be back! Thank you, Anna!
This is a very well planned house, right out of Dwell magazine. Comfortable and warm, with views of a spectacular landscape out every window. Unique property, feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, but you are not. Very nice escape from the city!
We were very pleased with our stay in this house for 4 nights in early October. The house has unique design, with high quality furnishings and kitchen appliances. It was very clean and had all the amenities for comfortable stay. Special thanks for all the toys around the house and outside that our 2-year old was absolutely delighted to find there.
The house feels very private, there is a path through the woods that starts in the back yard and connects with many miles of trails in the area.
It's probably a good idea to have a car or be ready to prepare your own meals as restaurants within walking distance are not open every day or have very limited hours.
The host provided detailed information about the house and surrounding area and was very responsive with answering all our questions. The security deposit was returned within days following our departure.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.
We thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful home with all the right amenities. The owner was very accommodating and responsive making the experience even better. We are already making plans to return as soon as we can!
We loved staying at this beautiful home. My son had the greatest time ever playing in the sandbox, exploring the woods behind the house and Anna and her boys were so generous leaving toys and a train table out for him to use. It was a two year old fantasy. The adults loved the fully stocked kitchen, grill and outdoor dining as well as the great info on local attractions that Anna provided. We hope to come back again soon, what a haven. Thanks Anna!
