British owner. My main concern is that you should enjoy your stay.
We stayed in this apartment for 6 nights. It was one of the best we have ever stayed in, in our 10 year experience of renting units both in the USA & Overseas. It was very spacious and in a great location convenient to public transport. Everything stated in the write up is 100% correct. Corresponding with the owner was easy & he was extremely helpful with information relating to our visit to Budapest. Very useful were the typed instructions given for all the appliances - we wish everyone would do that! We have no hesitation in recommending this unit to anyone visiting Budapest.
Geoff's apartment is a real home away from home. There is everything you need to have an enjoyable stay. It is really spacious with high ceilings and a huge Tv. The beds are comfy and large. The street outside is tree lined with antique and arts shops. Thereare two smallish local supermarket ( 1 block). Just a few steps away is the Hungarian Parliament building- at the corner of the street- and it is spectacular. The parliament is right on the Danube River. If you walk the short block towards the river there is the #2 tram stop which runs all the way down the Pest side of the river to the old town area and beyond. If you take the #2 the other direction for one stop you can hop off and get the #4 or #6 tram over to Buda. If you want to use the metro there is a station just the other side of the parliament building which will connect you to many parts of the city. We walked over to Andrassy Street- it is just over 15 minutes. Geoff's apartment is in a great location for transportation. Budapest seems to be a very safe city and the local people are very helpful. It is a very cultural city with many museums and art galleries in addition to a great many live performances.
The apartment is very spacious and clean with everything we needed during our stay and the WiFi is fast and reliable! There is even a computer which can be used. The bottle of wine and a box of chocolates we found on arrival made us feel very welcom!!
We liked the location: close to the Parliament Buildings, restaurants and more. The Falk Miksa street is a nice street with antique stores and stylish traditional apartment buildings. We loved the city and people are very friendly and willing to help!
Geoff is quick to answer any question and gave us advise on going to and from the airport. Taxi service was very good and they arrived promptly at the time we asked them to come. We can highly recommend this apartment!
Just around the corner from the apartment is Culinaria, a store where you can buy delicious cheeses, breads, cold cuts, chocolates and salads. It is also possible to have a breakfast or lunch in the coffee corner - really a store to go to if you fancy good food!
In addition to the main tourist attractions we visited 'Hospital in the Rock' underneath the old part of Buda. It tells the story of treating the wounded during war time in a hospital dug out in the rocks. With a guide (english speaking) and wax people the story comes to life.
Another part we liked a lot was the old Jewish Quarter, which is an up and coming district. The synagogues are worth a visit, but strolling through the old streets where now many cafes, restaurants and little stores have opened, makes it lively. Meals can be bought at low prices in pretty places!
We also payed a visit to the picturesque village of Szentendre, 20 km north of Budapest. It can easily be reached by the HEV train service, just on the other side of the Margarethe bridge. Worth a visit!
We spent 5 days in this apartment and we found it very nice, confortable and spacious: fully equipped with a lot of items available (in the kitchen and bathroom)- Location was also perfect, so close to the Parliament.
We were travelling by car and the local agent gave us very good suggestions to find a cheap and convenient parking option, a lot of money saved, thanks! We really recommend this apartment and we would certainly choose it again on our next trip to Budapest.
We also appreciated the good communication with the owner, very easy, fast and satisfactory. Thanks you!
Fantastic, spacious centrally-located apartment. Comfortable beds and everything you might need for your holiday. Fully-equipped kitchen and good shops nearby. Great for families with cot, baby bath provided. Great playground on St Margaret's island 15 minutes walk away. Having a washing machine helped enormously and good selection of DVDs to keep the kids amused. Highly recommended.
The apartment is in an ideal location, just minutes away from Parliament and the river on a quiet and safe residential street.
Local bars and cafes are minutes away (enjoy a sunset cocktail in Elysee bar or a delicious breakfast in Cafe Miksa), as is the nearest Metro station and the number 2 tram stop.
The apartment was spotlessly clean and fully equipped (an extensive supply of crockery, utensils and even a dishwasher).
Two very spacious bedrooms (one with double pull out sofa bed) with very high ceilings and a large lounge meant that the apartment was a relaxing place between our tourist adventures! There are many guidebooks and maps provided in the apartment, as well as extensive instructions on how to use any of the appliances or features of the apartment.
Plenty of storage space a plus too.
Couldn't reccommend highly enough, the perfect base for a visit to Budapest, thank you!
There is plenty to see in Budapest:
Walk down Váci Utca. It's a sort of pedestrianized mini Bond Street/Fifth Avenue. Make sure not to miss the beautiful covered market at the end of Váci utca. Walk along the Danube if it’s not too cold. Admire the Parliament Building and visit local coffee shops for cappuccino/cake.
Make sure you don't miss the Fine Arts Museum at Hosök tere. Or if you're in a more somber mood reflect on events at the Terror Háza (Andrássy út 60). Here you will see 20th century history of Hungary’s oppression under occupying forces. Walk there in 20 min via Oktagon.
On route you could shop at the Westend City Center (Teréz körút). It has a reasonable supermarket but do avoid the awful fast food.
My favourite other museums are the National Museum (Complete history of Hungary), Jewish Museum/Synagogue, the Postal Museum and the Subway Museum. And before you leave you must see and photograph the Opera house. Better still, book some tickets.
Other Activities: Cultural city-centre activities, thermal baths
