Built in 2012--. This nearly new hand-hewn log home is made from massive logs and is a work of art. Rustic logs, covered porch and wraparound deck give you a feeling that you are a part of nature.

It is set on 11 private wooded acres on a hillside above Beaver Creek which meanders through a lush meadow below. The creek is on the property and attracts wildlife year round. About Jody Landgrebe Owner/Manager

I've lived in the Custer area for 13 years and am a South Dakota native. After living out of state for 18 years, I returned to South Dakota for a more peaceful life.

Jody Landgrebe Owner/Manager purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Jody Landgrebe Owner/Manager chose Black Hills

I vacationed in the Custer area as a child, and returned to it because I've found the Custer area to be the perfect blend of rustic country living, beautiful scenery and friendly people. The town of Custer has all the shopping, restaurants and entertainment that anyone could possibly need without the frenzy of fast food, Walmarts and traffic that frazzle city folks lives.

What makes this cabin unique

I love this cabin's location, near Custer State Park and Wind Cave National park. Just 1.5 mile east is the back entrance to Wind Cave Park at an area where you can generally find herds of Buffalo and Elk. The cabin itself is very private as it is not visible from the road. Near dusk and dawn you can sometimes see elk at the front of the property near the creek area.

Great time!

  • 5 of 5

The house worked great for our two big families. Plenty of space. Loved the location and enjoyed all the neighbor cows in the morning. So close to Wind Cave National Park and Custer State Park and enjoyed several nearby 'bison traffic jams'.

Great stay

  • 4 of 5

We stayed 5 nights. 13 in our party. The house was very clean and had everything in it that we needed. It was a remote location on a gravel road but very easy to get to the major attractions. We loved the privacy and the quiet peaceful surroundings. I will say the bunk bed room did NOT have a good full size mattress. They ended up not even sleeping in the bed, but took couch cushions and laid those on the floor. The rest of the rooms were terrific and the basement was great for the kids to play. We also played outside and loved the wrap around porch. I would definitely recommend it. The driveway is steep and could use some more gravel on it, the rains have eroded it in places. I wrote a few other notes in the "needs" book that was at the house, but all in all....we had a terrific family vacation. Thank you!!!
