Outstanding villa with stunning views
This high quality modern villa has been the perfect base for our first trip to Crete. Comfortably accommodating 8 adults with air-con throughout, an impressive vaulted living room/kitchen and a covered outdoor dining area providing a superb vantage point to enjoy far reaching views of The White Mountains. 2 pools, including an 18m length pool proving very popular for the keen swimmers amongst us! The check in process was flawless, even with our flight arriving 2 hours late at night and the house manager was always helpful and available when needed. The village centre is a 5 minute walk and we popped into the taverna on the square many times to take in the local hospitality. A short drive to Almaridya provided a vast array of beachside bars and restaurants plus there is a gas BBQ at the villa for dining in. As a large group who appreciate space, privacy, mod cons and stunning surroundings, Villa Artemis has provided all this and more. Thank you!
Thank you very much for staying with us!
The best villa I have stayed in by far!!!!
As a family we loved every second of our week at villa Artemis... the house keeper mrs Froso was an absolute diamond she helped us so much and was a lovely lady!!
To summarise.... our experience was perfect and we will be deffinately booking to stay again!!!!
It was our pleasure to host you and your family!
Very spacious villa inside and out with great pool facilities. In idyllic Cretan village...
Villa is large, very open plan and hugely spacious. Double height ceiling into open roof space in main living is impressive modelled on Venetian dockyard ex Chania. Pools, decks and outside areas are great and 18m lap pool fantastic. The local village view with White Mountains back drop is fantastic and a view that never tires. I would give 5 stars but the villa (built 2003) is in need of some care and attention all around...it is getting tired. I was informed owners have not visited for over 2 years. Downstairs bathroom smells of drains and has damp in it (comment I note left by others) Kitchen needs updating and more sockets. Bed mattresses and pillows far too hard. Some money spent on bringing back up to standard and on some luxury would make this place truly stand out. Consider pool heating and hot tub also. The building and location is great...some maintenance, updating and luxury would make this villa spectacular.
Thank you for taking the time to review the villa. The drainage issue has been resolved for sometime now since your stay in April 2019. We have replaced a faulty one way check valve. The matress softness can be adjusted by asking the villa keeper to add a special cushion layer we have for this purpose. We have also upgraded some furniture which was back ordered for some time.
Lovely villa located in a lovey small authentic village. Good location.
Extremely spacious villa with great views.
Mrs Froso the housekeeper/cleaner was on hand every day to help with any issues. Very private and very peaceful location. We had a lovely stay.
Villa is a great building and although interior is very nice it isn’t luxurious. Bed mattresses could be better and sheets and duvets larger to stay on the bed.
Downstairs bathroom had very unpleasant smell on several days and my daughters had to use our bathroom instead. Pool was great although being unheated a bit chilly this time of year. These are only minor points however and I would recommend the Villa.
Location was excellent. The local seaside town had a lovely beach and good choice of restaurants. Easy to get to Chania which was charming - went twice. The coffee shop/restaurant in Gavalochori run by Monica was great!
This was our second visit to Artemis and we all enjoyed it so much - the villa is perfect, the pools were in constant use by the grandchildren, Gavalochiri is a beautiful area and the village restaurants are excellent. I strongly recommend it.
Gavalochori is a traditional Cretan village situated in the Apokorona region about 3km inland from the coastal village of Almirida. Gavalochori is an old historical village with approximately 500 residents. It is a typical Cretan village with a small square where a coffee shop, a bakery, a mini mart, two tavernas and other convenient stores can be found. Several narrow streets branch off its centre and one could wander through several interesting sections of this officially protected village. Stone built houses with lovely backyards full of colourful flowers can be found. A lot of interesting buildings can be seen, such as the 18th century two-roomed, arched olive oil press, the temples of Panagia and Agios Sergios, the old school, and the historical folk art museum. Within a short distance (5km) from tranquil Gavalohori one can drive to Almirida, a picturesque coastal village. You may dine there in one of several seaside tavernas or relax sipping your drink by a bar during sunset.
