I purchased Hyde Beeches in 2003 and lived there for 6 years with my 2 sons. They had an amazing time growing up there with the huge garden where they played football and made dens and tree houses. I used to love my morning walk with Syd, our dog in the forest which is on the door step. We loved mountain biking out the door into miles of forest. As the boys grew up it we decided to move into Poole. I really miss being at Hyde and when both boys left home Wayne and I moved back here and refurbished the Barn. I love being back here and have enjoyed spending time creating our dream home. We have landscaped the garden and updated both properties. We both love travelling so during these periods we also rent out the barn.
Julie Osborne purchased this cottage in 2003
I bought this property as when I was looking for a place in the country I phoned an agent to enquire about another property which they had just sold and the agent said 'I have got another property but you wont like it as its on the edge of the forest and down a 1/2 mile track, in the middle of no where' She couldn't have been more wrong it was just what I was looking for!!!
As I drive into Hyde and Seek Retreats I always feel I am leaving the stresses of life behind and escaping to a magical place.
We had a wonderful stay in Hyde Beeches. Our party of 6adults and 4children fitted very comfortably in this delightful cottage. The children particularly like the garden to run free and of cause the cottage for games of hide and seek. The surrounding countryside was great for walks direct from the cottage which our dog enjoyed to the uppermost.
We had a slight problem as in most holiday homes but the owners were there in 30min to sort it out even though it was the holiday season, great service
This cottage was a delightful place to spend xmas with our family and would recommend it to all
From the moment we drove up the driveway, we were amazed at this fantastic cottage. It is like a picture in Country Living magazine. Three cosy areas to relax on settees, a wonderful kitchen, where four women could work together, and a dining table to host a party. Very comfortable bedrooms and beds. Two excellent showers and no queues to use the toilets. The men played golf at East Dorset, 27 holes, and the ladies walked around Corfe Castle and along the beach at Swanage. Good shopping at Sainsburys in Wareham.
Deer in the garden and many wild birds. We will return soon!
We've just returned from a week away at Hyde Beeches. None of us wanted it to end. Our party ranged from a 12 month old to a 91 year old and the property/immediate surroundings catered so well for all of us.
- Directions to the property are clear and very easy to follow.
- The house and it's grounds are very well cared for.
- The woods are on your door step and are just idyllic for walking, cycling, wildlife watching and just escaping from the sometimes manic world we live in.
- Local towns, villages, train stations and visitor attractions are a short drive away.
- Kids loved playing in the garden, the fire pit meant for some beautiful autumnal evenings out toasting marshmallows and the outdoor heated pagoda was used both early morning and night.
There is so much more we could write to sing the praises of this property and it's owners but to summarise, Hyde Beeches has given us the best and most memorable family holiday we've ever had. Thank you. We will see you again!!
What a Super House right in the middle Wareham Forest. We enjoyed all the facilities that come with this house, the owners have thought of everything to enhance a family break. Just to mention a few, a huge garden equipped with rope swings , play house climbing frame, A Fire Pit, a huge success, such fun . We hired bikes which were delivered by Weymouth Bike Hire, very efficient service and reasonable cost. Bike rides from the door through miles of forest and heathland, the forest is criss crossed by miles of safe cycling paths. Wildlife in abundance all around and in the garden, we saw deer, squirrels rabbits and so many birds. Inside the house was spotlessly clean with comfy beds and the kitchen had everything needed for feeding a large family. We enjoyed the huge baths. And so much room to enjoy games from big box in lounge and what a surprise a terrific Dressing Up Box, Wow. I am sure we will be back.
We had 8 adults and 1 child staying at the cottage and found it incredibly well equipped, spacious and yet full of charm. Beds were comfortable and the outdoor space was a real treat. We had a lovely stay and I would definitely return again. Slightly challenging locating the property initially-but once found, it was the perfect get away.
We had a fantastic week in Hyde Beeches. The cottage was perfect for a celebratory family get together which included grandparents to young children, but would be equally lovely for a group of friends. The house was beautifully maintained and catered for all ages, and the huge garden was perfect for the kids to run around (and unbelievably for the adults to enjoy the good weather!). All the usual things were provided but it was the extras that really made our holiday: the climbing frame, huge box of lego and fantastic dressing up box; outside seating complete with heating, BBQ and a fire pit; good selection of DVDs and lovely tableware.
When we could tear ourselves away from the house the area was also great to explore with picturesque beaches, quaint villages, lovely walks and castles. There was also plenty to entertain the children including playgrounds, a model village, monkey world and fruit picking, to name but a few.
Thank you Julie for a really special week. We would love to return.
