About Julie Osborne

I purchased Hyde Beeches in 2003 and lived there for 6 years with my 2 sons. They had an amazing time growing up there with the huge garden where they played football and made dens and tree houses. I used to love my morning walk with Syd, our dog in the forest which is on the door step. We loved mountain biking out the door into miles of forest. As the boys grew up it we decided to move into Poole. I really miss being at Hyde and when both boys left home Wayne and I moved back here and refurbished the Barn. I love being back here and have enjoyed spending time creating our dream home. We have landscaped the garden and updated both properties. We both love travelling so during these periods we also rent out the barn.

Julie Osborne purchased this cottage in 2003

Why Julie Osborne chose Purbeck

I bought this property as when I was looking for a place in the country I phoned an agent to enquire about another property which they had just sold and the agent said 'I have got another property but you wont like it as its on the edge of the forest and down a 1/2 mile track, in the middle of no where' She couldn't have been more wrong it was just what I was looking for!!!

What makes this cottage unique

As I drive into Hyde and Seek Retreats I always feel I am leaving the stresses of life behind and escaping to a magical place.

An Amazing Family Holiday Home

  • 5 of 5

What a Super House right in the middle Wareham Forest. We enjoyed all the facilities that come with this house, the owners have thought of everything to enhance a family break. Just to mention a few, a huge garden equipped with rope swings , play house climbing frame, A Fire Pit, a huge success, such fun . We hired bikes which were delivered by Weymouth Bike Hire, very efficient service and reasonable cost. Bike rides from the door through miles of forest and heathland, the forest is criss crossed by miles of safe cycling paths. Wildlife in abundance all around and in the garden, we saw deer, squirrels rabbits and so many birds. Inside the house was spotlessly clean with comfy beds and the kitchen had everything needed for feeding a large family. We enjoyed the huge baths. And so much room to enjoy games from big box in lounge and what a surprise a terrific Dressing Up Box, Wow. I am sure we will be back.

Lovely Cottage in a Quiet Setting

  • 4 of 5

We had 8 adults and 1 child staying at the cottage and found it incredibly well equipped, spacious and yet full of charm. Beds were comfortable and the outdoor space was a real treat. We had a lovely stay and I would definitely return again. Slightly challenging locating the property initially-but once found, it was the perfect get away.

Fantastic, well-equipped property in a great location. Perfect for larger parties of all ages.

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week in Hyde Beeches. The cottage was perfect for a celebratory family get together which included grandparents to young children, but would be equally lovely for a group of friends. The house was beautifully maintained and catered for all ages, and the huge garden was perfect for the kids to run around (and unbelievably for the adults to enjoy the good weather!). All the usual things were provided but it was the extras that really made our holiday: the climbing frame, huge box of lego and fantastic dressing up box; outside seating complete with heating, BBQ and a fire pit; good selection of DVDs and lovely tableware.

When we could tear ourselves away from the house the area was also great to explore with picturesque beaches, quaint villages, lovely walks and castles. There was also plenty to entertain the children including playgrounds, a model village, monkey world and fruit picking, to name but a few.

Thank you Julie for a really special week. We would love to return.

Wonderful holiday for grand parents, parents, kids and border collie.

  • 5 of 5

The holiday was very enjoyable and the very large house fitted our requirements very well. The property was clean and tidy and very well equipped. Loads of space for the kids in the house and garden. The firepit was something else and the covered and heated outside eating area was spot on. The house was quite remote, set in wooded heathland but good for dog walking and jogging. Beaches are 20-30 minutes away, we were particularly impressed with Kimmeridge Bay, the snorkelling was excellent. We did eat out once, at the Silent Woman pub, very pretty and the bar staff were refreshingly welcoming but the food was a bit dissapointing.

Owner's Response: Pleased to hear you made use of the fire pit and that you found the house clean and tidy. Sorry to hear that you did not have a good meal at the Silent Woman. We do not recommend this Pub anymore as not only is the food not too good but they do not let children in the restaurant. Keep up the jogging! Julie

Lovely house and great location

  • 4 of 5

very very difficult to find. If you follow the instructions and are coming from that direction in the daylight then maybe you will find it but if you are coming from the opposite direction, forget it. If you arrive in the dark there is no chance as one of my guests found. It was a good job we were already there to assist. Phone signal is difficult too, if you stand on the driveway you can get a signal.. This cant be helped I know and is nothing to do with the owners.

The house had everything we needed. Could do with a bin in the downstairs bedroom and bathroom, just a little suggestion. We had a great stay, although the floors were quite dirty and the kids got black feet, all very well swept but probably just not washed.

All in all a good stay and I would recommend, a nice touch was to leave us two bottles of wine. We arranged an Ocardo delivery of food and the driver called us before hand as we left the phone on the car so there was signal, he found the location fine.

Lots of places to sit in the house and lots of outdoor areas to sit, very nicely decorated with lots of lovely touches. The BBQ was great as was the Arga stove.

Owner's Response: Pleased to hear you would recommend us and that you liked the decor of the cottage. Great to hear you made use of the BBQ and the outside seating area. I am sorry you found the cottage difficult to find in the dark, I have now produced a map to help with the instructions. The mobile phone signal is not good inside the cottage, for this reason there is a landline phone in the kitchen with the telephone number on it. I have mentioned to our cleaner (she has been with us for 13 years and is excellent) about the floors and she assured me that she always washes them so I am sorry but I do not know what happened on this occasion. Thank you for your comments and hope to see you again. Julie

Beautiful, spacious country cottage

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a wonderful week at Hyde Beeches. Our party comprised of 5 adults and 4 teenagers and we had plenty of room. The house has a great deal of character and was very clean and well maintained. The kitchen had an abundance of utensils, pots, pans and plates...which is great, if, like us, you tend to cook even on holiday!!! For us the outdoor area was the highlight, with comfortable seating, patio heaters, a large dining table and our favourite the fire pit, with ample seating around it for all 9 of us. We toasted marshmallows and played games around the fire pit - it was magical.

The house is very close to the Tank Museum, Lulworth Cove and Corfe Castle - all worth a visit.

Julie and Wayne were very welcoming and we have already recommended the house to other members of our family!
