The property was very well kept and very clean.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is very private. We were able to sit on the front porch and drink our coffee without interference from anyone. The hot tub on the back porch is also a highlight that we enjoyed very much. We cooked and ate there finding everything we needed to use. This was our first time to stay in a cabin and my husband and I will definitely do it again!!

Relaxing and convenient

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I chose this as our destination for our 5th anniversary get-away. It is obvious that Jane is very devoted to keeping her property looking good and making sure that her guests are happy. She was very courteous and left several surprises for us that made the stay even more enjoyable.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

The cabin exceeded our expectations! We LOVED it! It was clean, cozy, and perfectly situated in the Smoky Mountains. Jane was so nice and clearly takes a lot of pride in offering the perfect cabin get away for families. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need (just bring your own food), and there are movies and games for family time. The drive into Gatlinburg is about 25 minutes and the drive into Newport (where the closest Wal-Mart is located) is also about 25 minutes. The cabin is also located close to the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park where hiking trails are accessible. We will definitely book a stay again! Thank you so much Jane!

Perfect cabin for a relaxing getaway in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Simply Serene Cabin. For our family of 3, it was the perfect size. Jane has decorated the cabin so nicely and the little rustic details really made us feel like we were away from our hot and humid suburban SW FL home. Our primary reason for visiting was to get away from it all and enjoy peace and quiet in nature and this cabin allows you to do just that. The cabin is very clean and has everything you could possibly need. I loved the convenience of a washer and dryer since each day in the woods was a messy one. We enjoyed sitting on one of the two porches in the mornings and evenings and watching the sun rise and set while listening to the chorus of birds in the tree tops and the breeze blowing in the trees.

Access to the cabin is relatively easy and we were only about a 25 minute drive to a town called Newport where there was a Walmart and chain restaurants; the cabin is about 35 minutes to Gatlinburg, although there were some small gas stations and a Dollar General only 10-15 minutes away. We were disappointed in how "touristy" Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge were, but then again, we are used to that from being to Orlando so many times and I suppose some people like that. We did do the Mountain Coaster in Gatlinburg and ziplined at Zip Gatlinburg and our 8 year old daughter really liked those. We ventured to Clingman's Dome from Gatlinburg and it was well worth it-what a view! Be sure to bring rain ponchos with you wherever you go; each day there was a severe downpour of rain and although it was brief (just like FL only cooler) we were glad to have our ponchos with us.

There are several fishing spots (we don't fish, but we saw some brochures of some nearby) and hiking trails less than 10 minutes drive from the cabin. We hiked Gabe's Mountain Trail which is part of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and it was beautiful. We didn't make it the 2.1 miles to Hen Wallow Falls on our hike (we made it halfway), but even only going halfway we saw some smaller waterfalls/streams and it was a beautiful hike. By our last day we wished we had booked a longer stay so we could continue to explore the trails and nature all around us. If you like the forest and peace and quiet, this is the place to be! We hope to come back for another visit someday.

Cute, clean cabin away from the hussle and bussle.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is decorated with a black bear theme through out the cabin with light wood floors and walls, and the bedrooms have an old time americana theme with quilts and cute decor tastefully displayed. The road is paved and curvy on your way to the cabin. The driveway is blacktopped. I'd say two cars is pushing it in the parking. We had one suv and the rock area up top for turning around is helpful, but if you had two cars you might have to back down the driveway which is a bit of an incline. Inside is nicely equiped with dishes, pots, pans, spices, coffee and variety of creamers and cooking utensils, washer/dryer, fan, hairdryer, tv, wifi and ceiling fans in all rooms as well as a/c and gas fireplace. Plenty of towels, wash cloths and seperate towels for the 4 person hot tub. We enjoyed the hot tub on the covered porch. Cabin is out in the country in a wooded setting with a front yard on a hillside. There are neighbors accross the street. Also neighborhood watch signs posted. Porch lights as well as motion detector lights on outside for security and both doors have deadbolt locks. Cosby is a small town, if you don't mind driving about 18 miles to Gatlinberg this is a good place to stay. Cosby has a Dollar General, Post Office, restaurants (Carver's Applefarm our favorite) and gas station. Jane who owns the cabin has a craft store in town, as she is an artist, and makes lovely handmade items to sell. There is a campground and entrance to the Smokey Mountains National Park in Cosby with hiking trails. We enjoyed the Nature Trail there it was beautiful! If the rain wasn't so bad we would have done Gabes Falls too. Subtropical storm Alberto was rearing his ugly head that week. We went to Laurel Falls, Roaring Forks Nature Trail and Pancake Atrium, Smokey Mountain Brewery all in Gatlinburg. Went to Cracker Barrel in Newport and the Wal-Mart there too as well as the Walgreens. Did do some shopping downtown Gatlinburg and bought some photos of bears and and old church taken in Cades Cove at Smokey Mountain Art. Cute, clean cabin away from the hussle and bussle. ENJOY!
