Luxury house with heated pool and cinema, centre of Capestang, South of France

Bedrooms 5
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday home in Capestang - Maison du Monde

5 bedroom house sleeps 8, heated pool and 12 seater cinema. Near beaches

Outside peak season, if you wish to rent the whole house but there are only 2/4 of you we will charge you a 1 or 2 bedroom rate. This luxurious 5 bedroom village (sleeps 8 because we like to have enough space for everyone and the 2 single rooms have double beds) house is perfectly located in the centre of the popular village of Capestang on the Canal du Midi in South West France. The village square is a two minute walk to the left and the canal du midi a two minute walk to the right. The spacious living area includes a large open plan kitchen-dining room, comfortable lounge and separate TV room. There is also a shower room on the ground floor. On the first floor there is a large en-suite with day bed for sleepless children and two further bedrooms, one with twin beds and one with a double bed and both having access to a with a shared large shower room. On the next floor there is a king sized bed with ensuite bathroom, with a staircase leading to a private lounge which overlooks the rooftops of the village. There is another double bedded room for single occupancy with private shower room. Outside, the front courtyard has dining furniture and a BBQ - perfect for al fresco dining on the warm french evenings! There is also a summer kitchen for covered dining for those wishing to eat in the shade. Through the wooden gates the private walled garden is where the heated private pool and a 12 seater cinema (in the old “wine cuves”) are situated.

Maison du Monde (98754) is in an ideal location in the charming village of Capestang. Local facilities (restaurants, shops & supermarkets) are plentiful. Father afield there are superb, rural areas, towns with historical pasts, and the Meds superb beaches. Go south to Collioure and see the Charles Rennis McIntosh Trail. Listing is true and accurate and the house and outside areas are well kept and looked after. Te owner couldn't have been more helpful and the local gardienne, Fiona, was there when needed and provided loacal info.

Sad to leave

  • 5 of 5

Maison du Monde is a real jewel set in the delightful village of Capestang and located within 2 minutes walk of the tree filled village square where the local market is held twice a week. Being a former wine makers house it is full of character having been thoughtfully and tastefully renovated and equipped by Beverley the present owner. The house is much larger than it seems and while it was very comfortable for our relatively small group of 4 it could easily accommodate a much larger family or mixed group. Oh yes - bring your swimming costume. The pool is larger than it looks in the photograph - and it is heated !

The village is situated on the Canal du Midi with lots of fine walks. It is also ideally located for exploring this beautiful region of France and within easy reach of the stunning cities of Carcassonne, Narbonne and Beziers - and a mere half hour drive to the coast.

You will quickly make friends with the local shop keepers and in particular the nearest boulangerie/patisserie which is even less than 2 minutes walk! If you really must visit a supermarket - there are 2 on the outskirts of the village and both well tuned to the local taste - and very well stocked.

Beverley was a mine of information when we booked and Fiona, the house minder, lives nearby in the village and is always on hand for any help or advice.

A great service and a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

Home away from home

I haven’t a single complaint. Everything we needed or wanted was there. The location was excellent, the house was clean and well maintained, (and much larger than I though it would be), the kitchen was well stocked and the pool was super fun. The cinema was a big hit with my kids and so was the outdoor space. To top it all off was the delightful Fiona there to answer questions, clean the pool and offer advise for travel in the area. We all would love to go back and stay even longer.

Beautiful family home

  • 5 of 5

We all fell in love with Maison du Monde from the first moment we arrived. It is a beautiful villa set in the heart of the quaint village of Capestang. All of the rooms are furnished tastefully and comfortably. The kitchen is very well equipped and the outside kitchen is also extremely well stocked Beverley's attention to detail is amazing and both she and Fiona made us very welcome indeed. My children's ages range from 18 to 9 and all of them absolutely loved this beautiful villa and its location. We would thoroughly recommend for a very relaxing family holiday with also lots to do and see in the vicinity.

Maison du Monde is an absolute gem, located in the heart of the beautiful village of Capestang. The house has been lovingly restored, keeping some of the original features and combining them with the modern facilities required for a great stay. The kitchen comes supplied with every utensil that a budding cook may need and the facilities are perfect. The TV room/lounge comes equiped with a very large number of books and DVDs that my kids really enjoyed taking out to the converted cave, which is now a fully functioning cinema complete with original cinema seats. The bedrooms are of addequate size and the three bathrooms/showers are perfect for a large family. The outside space was heaven and gave our family a safe and secure area to play in. The pool area of which the picture do not do justice was fantastic for lazing around in private surroundings. Maison du Monde is situated in the heart of the beautiful village of Capestang, minutes away by foot from the main square, Canal du Midi and 2 supermarkets. This is a fantastic part of the world and we have spent many years coming here. Beverly is a great host and is always on hand to answer questions and queries that you may have. The house has been converted by someone who loves this place and you can feel it as soon as you walk behind the imposing gates. We can not recommend Maison du Monde highly enough and we hope this review is helpful to anyone coming to stay here. We look so forward to returning in the future and Thank Beverly and her team for everything. Evan & Brendan, Dublin, Ireland
