We are a California family, currently residing in San Francisco, but we love our LA house! It's a very special spot, unlike anything else you'll find in LA. We put years of love and care into restoring it, and we keep it in top notch condition in the hope that anyone who stays there will enjoy it as much as we have.

Why Alex Pels chose Los Angeles

We decided to live in Highland Park in 2005, fell in love with this 1924 Casita the minute we saw it. It was the first and only one we ever looked at! Even though it was in bad shape at the time, we knew the view was worth the price alone, and the quiet and seclusion of the hilltop hooked us!

What makes this house unique

Inside: View sunsets over the San Gabriel Mountains from the comfortable living room seating area. Cook a great meal in the large kitchen. Watch some TV on the flat screen.

Outside: enjoy the beautifully landscaped yard and lawns, with a trumpet vine covered wall surrounding the whole property.

Charming, spacious and secluded

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely old house. It was so well secluded was we initially drove past the place without seeing it. The gardens, whilst compact, are extremely well kept and are a peaceful place to spend some downtime. Inside the house was extremely clean, very well maintained and tastefully furnished. There are some decent places to eat and shop in Highland Park although we preferred the more upmarket areas around Pasedena (just a few minutes drive away). Overall we would highly recommend a stay here.

House is beautiful and we'll maintained. This was our second stay at the property so I think says it

Like the location beautiful views and great access to public transportation . Neighborhood is safe and pretty quiet. Must be careful driving in and out neighborhood because streets are very narrow and blind.

perfect location and a home from home.

We stayed for 4 nights in this lovely house. Has all the amenities required for a home from home holiday. There were 5 adults staying and there was ample room for all of us.

The view from the living room is lovely to wake up to.

It took 20 minutes to drive to hollywood, 25 minutes to the shopping outlet, 30 minutes to santa monica and 20 minutes to LA. I feel for the price and experience this location is perfect. The neighbourhood was welcoming and peaceful.

If I ever end up in the LA area I will definitely use this accommodation.

Classic Old-Hollywood Style in East LA

This gorgeous 1920s house sits on a hillside in the lovely enclave of Mt. Angelus. The views from the grand window in the living room of the San Gabriel mountains are breathtaking. The house has been immaculately maintained and beautifully decorated, and the owners have really excellent taste. They were also extremely thoughtful, leaving us fresh gourmet coffee and information about the neighborhood, which is hilly and full of delightful public stairways. (There's one right next to the house.) It's great for taking walks, which is something you wouldn't expect in Los Angeles. Adjacent Highland Park is a funky, up-and-coming neighborhood, and more upscale Pasadena is nearby. I would highly recommend this property; the only caveat being that the owners didn't have wireless internet, so email proved to be a bit of a challenge.
