Kieran Corcoran purchased this cottage in 2007
Have a long affiliation with this very special location in Kerry.
The perfect mix! Pick what you want of it....
We have stayed in over 20 different self catering homes in Ireland over the years and Lark Cottage was without doubt one of the best. We had some lovely weather but even on wet days there is plenty to do. Tralee town is only 15 mins drive away, much to the delight of my teenage daughter (never having enough to wear!)
A spot of rain didn't stop us from walks on the beach collecting shells, or sitting on the rocks down where the river runs into the sea, watching the fish jump in the evenings.
We spent a day in Dingle, only 1 hr away. The ocean world was good fun, my favourite was the giant turtle, he looked like a wise old man as he came down to inspect us, hubby liked the cod, so much so that he hasn't eaten any since, and princess loved the touch pool, until she smelled her hands! Then we went on the boat trip to see Fungi. It was a brilliant experience.
The cottage is in an ideal location as there are loads of places to go and some lovely places to eat. The fact that the Golf Club is only minutes away means you don't even have to drive if you want to go out for a drink. The food there is tops and the staff are very friendly.
For swimming, the beach is only a few minutes walk from the house or you can go to Banna strand but there are lots of other beaches around.
For us the icing on the cake was the house. If the house isn't right it doesn't matter about location or weather. A holiday is about the feel good factor and Alanda and Kieran really know how to treat their guests.
Lark Cottage is a beautiful home, very clean, comfortable and with stunning views. The attention to detail is first class. The guest book has information on everything you might need, from places to eat to the emergency numbers. The beds are very comfortable and it was great to be able to get a full nights sleep without the morning sun wakeneing you (or the children) at the crack of dawn. Why? Because there were proper curtains on the windows, not the usual flimsey things a lot of holiday homes hang on their windows.
We spent many hours just watching the the way the light changed on the mountains, or listening to the birds singing, or just relaxing reading a book, or sitting in the garden with a glass of wine.
We would like to thank Alanda and Kieran for a wonderful holiday, for being available any time we needed advice or had a problem. We wish you and your family all the best and hope to go back to the jewel we have found in 'The Kingdom' next year.
Thank you for a truly wonderful stay in Tralee. Beautiful views, comfortable homey atmosphere, and most incredible nearby beac and golf course. You attention to detail far surpassed any expectation of our vacation in Ireland!
Firstly, the owner of this cottage is incredibly approachable and helpful. Pre- booking I had some technology questions and all were answered (wanted to take an Amazon firestick and stream content through that; plus a laptop - both worked well). He also put a brand new dart board on request and apple pie, marmalade, soda bread and wine was a much appreciated welcoming gift.
Secondly, the layout of the cottage - very spacious and well laid out. Thirdly and most impressive, are the panoramic views around it, especially from the living room. Every room has several windows and overlook either or all of mountains, water, beaches. We were extremely lucky with the weather and were able to sit outside in the evenings, tired from days out, just feeling ourselves become more and more relaxed, with a nice glass of wine or G&T but mostly due to those views. I could sit and watch the tides go in and out, the clouds roll by and cover and uncover the mountains opposite, all day! My 14yr old really loved the big trampoline in the garden!
Beds were really comfy; great ensuite shower room/toilet and family bathroom. Kitchen very well equipped and the golf club a few minutes walk away is worth visiting even just for Guinness and sitting by the window looking out on absolutely astounding views! I must have taken a thousand photos! We had breakfast there one morning and dinner on our final night. Really good!!
Cottage is ideally located for days out. Huge amount of tourist information, things to do, where to eat etc, provided in the lobby. If weather is bad, the living room is very well equipped with loads of dvds, cd's and the playroom equally equipped with board games and toys etc. Utility room is also well equipped although as we were only there for a week, we didn't need to use it.
I have rented holiday cottages before and you know sometimes you feel when you get there, it doesn't live up to the hype? This one exceeds it. So much so that it has now become our benchmark for future holiday rentals. I'm not sure I'll ever find one that lives us to this idyllic cottage, which really spoilt us! And at such a good price too. Believe me, I've paid a lot more for a lot less.
This really is a little piece of heaven and I'm from Scotland so used to beautiful views (and always looking for a bargain)! So quiet at night and lovely sunsets out back, which also has beautiful views. Definitely get down to the secret beach! Absolutely 100% recommend to all.
Beautiful, clean, comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, great sun/family room, quiet - what more can I say? I LOVED this place and will recommend it to anyone going to the area. Thanks to the owner, who is friendly and thoughtful, leaving us with a bottle of wine, a jar of marmalade and a fresh loaf of Irish brown bread upon our arrival. So happy we stayed here.
The house was perfect for our family. The location and views were fabulous. House is fairly well equipped and comfortable. We spent a day and a half very local, enjoying the fresh air, views and also local restaurants. Location was very convenient to explore Dingle and Ring of Kerry.
My brother, niece and I stayed at Lark Cottage, Barrow, Co Kerry, in May 2016 for about 10 days. The cottage is on a peninsula set high on a hill. The scenery is spectacular. Being a smoker I spent a lot of time outside admiring the view from the picnic table in the front of the cottage or the one in back of the cottage. From the front I could look down on the picturesque homes of Fenit Island set in a mountain backdrop, southwest is the lighthouse and due west in the distance (I think) the famous Brandon Mountain. From the back we looked down on the roof of the Tralee golf club house although the course itself is not visible and we could see the farmer’s cows grazing in the field behind us, chickens running around to the east next door and looking north we could see Kerry Head in the distance. At night the silence was a wonder in itself not to mention the full moon drifting eerily through the clouds. As we left there was a sun shower and a rainbow that arched from one horizon to the other. The view from Lark Cottage was surreal and almost a fantasy. Oh and there was an inside to the cottage too. Should I start with the view from the living room? I think I’ve described that. Spectacular!
The cottage had everything we needed to cook whatever we wanted (my brother and niece did a bit of that) although every day we took trips to various places in Kerry. The location is an easy drive to anywhere once you get used to the narrow roads in Ireland and driving on the left. We went as far north as Ballybunion (a hilltop castle with stunning cliffs nestling fabulous beaches on either side), east to Dingle (fantastic mountain scenery) and south to Killarney and Kenmare (magnificent lakes and forests). The cottage had tons of amenities tucked away here and there but I was too busy to take advantage of them; enjoying the sights of Kerry by day and uploading my photos by night to show everyone back home. If you every need a place to stay in Kerry, Lark Cottage is ideal.
As a final note: one morning I was looking at the cottage’s hedge, the fields below and the grass in front of me and I thought this truly is the Emerald Island and how many different colours of green can there possibly be. I mentioned it to someone later that day and he said, according to Johnny Cash there are Forty Shades of Green. I’m pretty certain I’ll be back again. Thanks Kieran.

There is so much to do in this beautiful scenic location. It is a great touring base to explore the Kingdom of Kerry but at the same time it is in such a lovely location you may not want to travel too far! As well as being surrounded by views of Tralee Bay, Brandon Head, the Sliabh Mish Mountains and Kerry Head you will be within walking distance of secluded Barrow beach which connects with Banna Beach which is renowned for it's surfing and beautiful Ballyheighue beach.
Tralee Town is only 20 minutes drive away with all the amenities you would expect from a bustling market town. For indoor activities you can choose from the Kerry County Museum, The Aqua Dome for water slides and a cinema to name a few.
At the cottage you will also overlook Tralee Golf Club which was designed by Arnold Palmer. The are several other golf clubs within the area and Ballybunion and Killarney Golf Courses are within 30 minutes drive.
There are a number of traditional and seafood pubs and restaurants in the locality and Tralee Golf Course serves meals all day if you fancy breakfast overlooking the 1st tee.
Fenit Harbour is less than 15 minutes drive and has a popular Marina and relaxed atmosphere. The Sailing School in particular is very active during the summer season. Sea Angling is accessible through this port and River Fishing on the River Feale is available in Listowel approximately 30 minutes drive away.
