This was our second visit to the house with a group of friends. We stayed here in order to ski at nearby Elk Mountain (about a 20 minute drive). We had a great ski day along with 2 wonderful days of sledding at the house. We had small children with us and they spent hours sledding down the hill on the property. The kitchen is well stocked for the many meals that we cooked and there was plenty of space for all. The fireplace kept things warm and cozy when we came in from the outdoors. The furnishings are really lovely...many antiques and vintage pieces. The owner is very responsive and easy to communicate with. We will be back!
Charming home on a beautiful piece of property. Easy access from I-81. Very quiet and relaxing. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Our family of 4 stayed here for 3 nights over New Year's Eve/Day with two other families (10 people total including 4 kids ages 3 - 7). The photos on VRBO had certainly made the house and property look very inviting and lovely however were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find the house even more well-kept/remodeled/maintained than we had expected. Such a beautiful old farmhouse!! ... with modern kitchen and bathrooms....and we were so impressed with the efforts to retain the "old farmhouse" features. Beautifully furnished with antiques!
The kitchen was well-stocked.....the heating system worked very well, it was toasty warm in just a few minutes after arriving.
There are two living areas which worked well for our group .... plenty of space for the kids to play and be noisy ....and a separate area for the adults to hang out. And with 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths, there was plenty of space for us all to have our privacy.
We will definitely return another time....hopefully it will snow next time! Elk Mountain was closed...no snow!!
Oh, and Liz was extremely helpful to us during our stay!! Thank you for making us feel so welcome!
We truly love the property and was very thankful for the availability of the home with a very short notice. The home is beautiful as is the property. We truly had a great time with our UTV/ATV while vacationing at the home. A couple concerns we did have is being an older home there is not air conditioning and most of the windows are painted shut so the house was extremely warm at the time of our stay. There was plenty of firewood provided for the fire pit. Some small cleaning issues. But overall we were very happy with the home and would consider coming again. Thank You.
We (grandparents, adult children, and grandchildren) enjoyed staying in this lovely home while attending a family reunion nearby. Upon arriving the first evening we saw eight deer in the upper field next to the house. The location is blissfully quiet with no noise from traffic or neighbors, and the birdsong was wonderful to wake up to.
The house is spacious, with three living areas on the main floor plus a dining room, kitchen, and laundry room/entry area. The bedrooms are comfortable, and the room with a pull-out sofa bed has a door that closes rather than being out in the open, making sleeping and changing clothes easier.
All three bathrooms have good-quality showers (the master bathroom also has a jacuzzi), and the hot water supply held up well through multiple showers along with the washer and dishwasher running. The kitchen is also nicely modernized.
Regarding a previous review's comment about the furniture being old, that is part of the house's charm! The furnishings and decor give an authentic antique, traditional farmhouse feel which is part of the experience.
The owner is responsive and pleasant to work with. Our family members were enthusiastic about our experience and would like to stay again if we all visit the area in the future.
.We enjoyed our stay in this property with friends and families
Plenty of space outside -, green and peaceful with no other sound except the birds and nature
Campfire was really good and kitchen and dining area were neat and clean, fully equipped with all utensils
The bed and furniture (especially inside the bedrooms) were old and definitely need replacement.
