About the property

Self-catering cottage sleeps up to 5 persons + baby. Free wifi & BTVision

Bay View Cottage is set in a quiet location on the outskirts of St Austell offering superb views over the Bay. The cottage is accessed by a private gated entrance onto a stunning enclosed driveway with plenty of parking. Within easy access are all the major tourist attractions- The Eden Project, Gardens of Heligan, Trewithen, Charlestown, Padstow, Newquay are all just a short drive away. Bay View Cottage offers free wifi, TV with BTVision (with BT sports & kids channels), DVD player, stereo, fully-equipped kitchen and a washing machine. There is a second TV upstairs so that you don't need to battle over the TV. There is plenty to keep children of all ages entertained and there is a communal garden occupied also by our friendly mini-shetlands, Dillon, Honey and Flame who are always ready and waiting for company. It is a great base from which to explore everything that Cornwall has to offer and is especially ideal if you like to have a bit of peace away from the crowds in the evenings. Children can play in the grounds while adults get to relax with a glass of wine on the private patio with views out to St Austell Bay.

The Eden Project is on the doorstep at Carn Grey. The Eden Project has plenty of all year round activities to offer- winter skating rink, Easter activities and Christmas markets etc. Of course, during the summer there is always plenty going on in the Tropical and Mediterranean biomes- not to mention all of the music events and festivals. Carn Grey is a fantastic vantage point to survey the South Coast and is also within easy access of all that the North Coast has to offer. If you would prefer not to drive, St Austell has a mainline train station and there are also very regular bus services. St Austell itself also has plenty to offer for those rainy days- St Austell Brewery, Wheal Martin Museum and Charlestown Shipwreck Centre all give a fascinating insight to the local history. St Austell also has a new cinema complex and a small new shopping centre complete with Eden Cafe which offers live music events. Truro is a 20min drive and offers a fantastic place to shop (if the mood takes you). Nearby Par offers an indoor soft play zone for young children along with an indoor Cornish market.

Children can find plenty to do at the cottage if you decide to spend the day relaxing at home. The ponies are always ready and willing companions (as are also the guinea pigs) and there is plenty of space for children to run free come rain or shine!

Lovely cottage in an idyllic setting with stunning views over the bay.

We had a lovely stay at Bay View cottage. The cottage had everything we needed and more. Karen was always available if we needed anything. Whilst the cottage is situated next to the family home it still felt very private. Our 2yr old daughter loved the ponies and it's added extras like this that made our stay extra special. We will definitely be back.

The property was excellent and the owner Karen Holmes was great.

My only co0mplaint is that the hot water went off three times in the week leaving us with no hot water. We had to boil the kettle to wash and have a shave, also unable to have a shower

Owner's Response: I am glad you liked Bay View Cottage. There was an issue with the timer on the boiler which caused problems with the water as I explained, but this has now been rectified. It is only that the oil engineer was unable to attend immediately since he was busy. However, the shower is electric and there was still hot water for showers etc. I hope you will return one day!

Cottage well equipped, providing all we required. Karen was most helpful. Well located for touring around this lovely area of Cornwall. The only downside was our decision to visit it during the wettest week of May.!

Bay View Cottage is within 2 miles of the Eden Project, and a short drive from the Gardens of Heligan and Trewithen. Also a short drive away are the shipwreck heritage centre of Charlestown and the popular fishing villages of Fowey and Mevagissey which offer plenty of choice for restaurants and shops. For a day at the beach, a 5min drive takes you to Carlyon Bay, Polkerris, Pentewan Sands, and Porthpean. Bay View Cottage is also a great starting point for walkers or cyclists- there are an abundance of scenic walks along the coastal paths or on the clay trails. If you decide you also want to explore further, the North coast of Cornwall is also only a short drive away- offering you the fishing village of Padstow and the ancient town of Tintagel. Further afield, an hours drive will take you to St Ives and St Michael's Mount which are fantastic for a day-trip.
